Smile makeover
The umbrella term: any combination of treatments planned together for the whole smile. It may involve no ceramic at all.
One plan for the whole smile, built from the treatments your teeth actually need, designed digitally and tried in your mouth before anything irreversible happens.
The consultation ends with a diagnosis and a written plan listing each treatment, its order and the alternatives.

A smile makeover is a treatment plan that combines several procedures to change how the whole smile looks: often whitening, composite bonding, aligners, gum contouring, veneers, crowns or implants, chosen tooth by tooth for the problem each one has. At Creative Arts in Dubai it starts with diagnosis, is designed digitally and tried as a mock-up in your mouth, and the ceramic is made in the laboratory in the same building.
Most problems have a conservative option and a more involved one; the examination decides which your teeth need.
| What bothers you | Conservative option | More involved option |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow or stained teeth | Professional cleaning and teeth whitening | Veneers or crowns for deep discolouration whitening cannot reach |
| Chipped or uneven edges | Composite bonding | Veneers for larger chips; crowns for broken, heavily filled teeth |
| Gaps between teeth | Bonding for small gaps | Aligners or braces; veneers where tooth shape is also wrong |
| Crooked or crowded teeth | Clear aligners or fixed braces | Veneers after alignment, or for mild cases |
| Too much gum, or an uneven gum line | Laser gum contouring | Crown lengthening where bone is involved |
| Small, short or worn teeth | Bonding to restore length | Veneers or crowns, with a bite assessment if grinding caused the wear |
| Missing teeth | A bridge, where the neighbouring teeth already need crowns | Dental implants, with bone grafting where needed |
| Old crowns or fillings that look wrong | Replacing old tooth-coloured fillings | New crowns or veneers matched to the smile |
Most makeovers combine two to four of these. A gummy smile caused by the lip or jaw is not solved by treating the teeth.
The terms overlap in advertising. Clinically, the difference is how many teeth are treated.

One kind of makeover, in which most visible teeth are covered with veneers or crowns in one design. See Hollywood Smile.
Whitening, bonding, aligners and gum contouring only, often enough when tooth shape is good. See smile makeover without veneers.
When one or two teeth are the problem, treating only those and matching them to the rest often looks more natural.
Every makeover passes through the same stages. The ones before treatment decide the result.
What you want to change, then teeth, gums, bite and jaw joints examined, with photographs, a scan and X-rays where needed.

Before preparationHealth, then alignment, gums, whitening and finally restorations, each by the appropriate dentist.
Weeks to monthsRestorations tried in, bonded and the bite balanced, then a review, written aftercare and a night guard if you grind.
Final stageA makeover is several treatments, and the order is where many plans go wrong. It runs from the foundations outwards:
Our smile makeover timeline shows how long common combinations take.

The design starts from your face. Facial photographs and an intraoral scan are combined so the proposed teeth can be judged against your lips, gums and facial midline.

Veneers, crowns and implant restorations are designed and made at Creative Art Dental Lab, in the same building as the clinic. The ceramist sees your teeth and skin tone in person, under the same light as your dentist, which is where shade, texture and edge translucency are decided.
The laboratory is part of Creative Art Group, whose CEO, Basem Tobaji, is a celebrity smile designer with about 30 years in the dental field. He heads the group whose laboratory makes the ceramic; he is not a dentist and does not examine, diagnose or treat patients. Every clinical step is your dentist's.
A makeover suits most adults with healthy foundations and clear goals. Some things have to be fixed, or rethought, first.

A makeover is priced as the sum of its parts, after examination. See the smile makeover cost guide, or Hollywood Smile cost for full-set ceramic plans.
The dentist who carries out the cosmetic work plans your makeover, with colleagues for gums, orthodontics or implant surgery.
There is no fixed list. It includes whichever treatments your teeth need: whitening and bonding for one person, aligners and a few veneers for another, crowns and an implant for a third. The written plan lists each component in order, with its alternatives.
Not quite. A Hollywood Smile is one kind of smile makeover, where most visible teeth are covered with veneers or crowns in a single design. A smile makeover is the wider term and can reach its goal with little or no ceramic, using whitening, bonding, aligners or gum contouring.
A cosmetic-only makeover of whitening, bonding and ceramic veneers usually takes a few weeks from design to fitting. Plans with aligners, gum reshaping or implants take months, because teeth, gums and bone need time to move or heal.
Yes. The proposed smile is designed against your facial photographs, then made into a physical mock-up you wear, speak with and photograph. Length, shape and brightness can still change at that stage, before any tooth is prepared.
Often. When tooth shape is good and the problems are colour, small chips, minor gaps or alignment, whitening, bonding, aligners and gum contouring can be enough. The conservative route is costed alongside any ceramic option so you can compare them.
It depends on the components. Whitening, aligners and most bonding remove little or no tooth structure. Ceramic veneers usually need a small, irreversible enamel reduction, and crowns more. Preparing through the approved mock-up removes only what the design needs.
Each part ages differently. Whitening fades gradually and can be topped up; bonding usually needs refreshing after some years; ceramic veneers and crowns often last 10–15 years or more with good hygiene, regular reviews and a night guard if you grind.
