Whitening lightens natural enamel; how much varies from person to person, and it does not change fillings, crowns or veneers.
Work backwards from the date. Whitening fits into weeks, veneers need a couple of months with room for a mock-up and a review, and aligners need many months. Irreversible work should not be rushed for a deadline.
Tell us your wedding date at the first visit; the written plan lists each step and when it needs to happen.

Ideally six months or more ahead, which leaves time for orthodontics, gum treatment or veneers with a calm review period. Around two months is usually enough for whitening plus bonding or a few veneers, if no preparatory treatment is needed. With two weeks, keep to a professional clean and whitening. Creative Arts in Dubai plans the sequence backwards from your wedding date.
Typical planning windows; your examination sets the real sequence.
| Time before the date | Realistic options | Best left for later |
|---|---|---|
| About 2 weeks | A professional clean to lift surface stain; whitening if teeth and gums are healthy; polishing old fillings | Starting veneers or crowns, or anything that cannot be reviewed before the day |
| About 1–2 months | Whitening, then composite bonding for chips, small gaps or uneven edges; a few veneers if gums and bite are healthy | Gum surgery and veneers back to back; choosing a veneer shade before whitening has settled |
| 3–6 months | Gum contouring with healing time before veneers; replacing old crowns or fillings; a full veneer plan with design and mock-up | Starting comprehensive orthodontics and expecting it to finish |
| 6–12 months or more | Orthodontics with braces or Invisalign, then whitening and bonding or veneers; an implant for a missing tooth, which typically needs about 3–6 months to integrate | Leaving the start late — the slowest step sets the timetable |

The order matters more than the speed: each step depends on the one before it.
Examination, gum check, photographs and a scan, then a written, itemised plan listing each step and its date.
As early as possibleDecay, inflamed gums and leaking fillings are treated first; cosmetic work on unhealthy teeth does not last.
First weeksCrowding or spacing is treated by our specialist orthodontists with braces or Invisalign before any shape-changing work.
Longest stepDone before tooth-coloured work, because bonding and ceramic do not lighten later: laser whitening in the clinic or home whitening with custom trays.
After alignmentShade is taken once the whitening has settled, then design, mock-up, preparation and fitting follow.
ThenA review appointment and time for small adjustments, finished two to three weeks before the day.
2–3 weeks beforeChoose by what you want to change. Most plans use one or two of these, not all of them.
Whitening lightens natural enamel; how much varies from person to person, and it does not change fillings, crowns or veneers.
Composite bonding adds tooth-coloured resin, often in one visit, with no enamel removed.
Porcelain veneers change all three, but need a design stage, a mock-up and laboratory time.
Orthodontics moves the teeth themselves. It takes longest, so if it is needed it usually comes first.
Laser gum contouring reshapes the gum margin, which then needs several weeks to settle before veneers.

Veneer preparation removes enamel permanently. A design approved in a hurry, a shade taken before whitening has settled, or gum work that has not healed all show in close-up photographs — and cannot be undone afterwards.
If the date is close, a reversible plan — cleaning, whitening and bonding now, veneers after the wedding — is often the better choice. How options are combined is explained on our smile makeover page.
If you live abroad, planning can start at a first visit, but veneers need you in Dubai for preparation, try-in and fitting, with a few days spare. Our page on veneers for visitors explains how to plan the trip around your date.
A wedding plan is priced by its components, so you receive a written, itemised plan after examination rather than a package figure. See the smile makeover cost guide.
The dentist who plans your makeover sequences each step; our specialist orthodontists join the plan if alignment is needed.
Whitening is generally safe when teeth and gums are healthy, but finish it at least a week or two before the wedding. Any sensitivity is usually temporary, and the colour settles over the following days. Whitening the night before leaves no time to recover if your gums are irritated or your teeth feel sensitive.
Aim to have veneers fitted at least two to three weeks before the wedding, after a mock-up you have had time to judge. That leaves room for a review, small adjustments to shape or bite, and for your gums to settle. Starting about two months ahead is a comfortable minimum for a straightforward case.
A simple case can sometimes be completed in that time, as the laboratory typically needs 3–5 working days. But there is no margin for living with a mock-up, for changes or for a review. With two weeks, whitening and bonding are usually the safer choice, and veneers can follow after the wedding.
It depends on the case. Comprehensive treatment typically takes 12–24 months, simpler cases less. Aligners can be taken out for the ceremony and photographs, although small tooth-coloured attachments stay on the teeth. The orthodontist can tell you how far treatment is likely to have progressed by your date.
Keep any piece and contact the clinic during opening hours, daily 10:00–20:00. Chipped bonding can often be repaired directly, and ceramic can be adjusted quickly because the laboratory is in the same building, though a new veneer cannot be made the same day. Avoiding hard foods in the final weeks reduces the risk.
Photograph the mock-up during planning, in daylight and with flash, and look at the pictures at the size they will be printed. Very bright, opaque shades can look flat in close-ups, so seeing the trial smile on camera lets you choose before anything is permanent.
