Implants for US patients

Dental Implants in Dubai for Patients Travelling from the USA

Medically reviewed by Dr. Kinan Bonni, Dentist · DHA Professional Unique ID 00180966 · October 2026

An implant needs months for the bone to heal around it, so most patients from the US make two trips: one for placement, one for the crown. Here is what each trip involves and how to prepare.

  • From AED 4,000 per implant
  • 3D CBCT planning
  • Crowns made in the same building

Quick answer

How do dental implants in Dubai work if I live in the US?

At Creative Arts in Dubai, dental implants usually take two trips. On the first, the implant is planned on a 3D CBCT scan and placed under local anaesthetic. The bone then heals around it, typically for 3–6 months, while you are home. On the second trip the crown is scanned, made in the lab in the same building and fitted. Implants start from AED 4,000 per implant.

Why two trips

Why do most implant patients from the US travel to Dubai twice?

An implant is a small post, usually titanium, that replaces the root of a tooth. It only becomes strong enough to carry a crown once the bone has bonded to it, a process called osseointegration that typically takes about 3–6 months. That wait cannot be shortened, and it happens while you are at home.

So the usual pattern is a first trip for assessment and placement, and a second for the crown. If a tooth has to be removed first, or a bone graft or sinus lift is needed, healing takes longer and the plan may add a trip. Whether an implant can be placed straight after an extraction depends on the case; read about immediate implants.

The dental implants page covers the treatment itself, and the dental implant process explains each stage.

Starting price

How much do dental implants cost in Dubai for a patient from the US?

Prices are in UAE dirhams and the same for every patient. Your written plan lists exactly what is included for your case: implant, crown and any bone graft.

Your final figure

What changes the total for implants planned from the US?

The figure is set after the CBCT scan, because bone volume decides much of the plan.

  • Number of implantsOne missing tooth, several, or a full arch are planned very differently. See implant cost in Dubai.
  • Bone graft or sinus liftIf the scan shows too little bone, grafting is added and priced in the plan; read about bone grafting and sinus lift.
  • Extraction firstRemoving a failing tooth adds a step and can change when the implant goes in.
  • Crown or bridge on topA single crown, a bridge on two implants or a full-arch bridge are made in the lab and listed separately.
Before surgery

What medical details should US patients send before implant surgery in Dubai?

Sending these early avoids a surprise on the day of surgery. The surgeon may still ask for more.

02

Health conditions

Diabetes control, heart conditions and anything that affects healing or sedation.

03

Smoking or vaping

Both slow healing around implants. Say so honestly; the surgeon will advise on stopping before and after.

04

Scan files

If your US dentist has taken a CBCT scan, ask for the full image files, not only screenshots. The clinic may still need its own scan.

Flying home

When can you fly back to the US after implant surgery?

After implant placement or an extraction, the usual advice is to wait a few days before flying and to follow your surgeon's written instructions. After a sinus lift you will be given specific advice, because pressure changes affect the sinus while it heals. The guide to flying after dental surgery explains why.

  • Keep the check before you fly. The surgeon looks at the site before you leave.
  • Pack what you were given. Written aftercare, any prescribed medicines and soft food for the first days.
  • Sedation: you need an adult escort afterwards; ask your surgeon how long to wait before travelling.

The first weeks of home care are in the implant aftercare guide.

Ask for your implant details in writing

Before you fly home, ask for the implant system, size and component details. If your local dentist ever needs to tighten a crown screw, replace a part or take a review X-ray, they will know exactly what is in place. The aftercare guide for US patients lists the other records to take home.

Patient questions

Frequently asked questions

How many trips to Dubai do dental implants take from the US?

Usually two: one for assessment and placement, and one for the crown after the bone has healed, typically 3–6 months later. An extraction, bone graft or sinus lift can lengthen healing and may add a trip. Your surgeon confirms the number after the CBCT scan, before you commit.

Will I have a gap while my implant heals back in the US?

For a front tooth, a temporary tooth is usually arranged so you are not left with a visible gap; options include a removable tooth or a bonded temporary, depending on the case. For a back tooth a gap is often left while it heals. Read about a temporary tooth during implant treatment.

How soon can I fly back to the US after implant surgery in Dubai?

Typical advice is to wait a few days after placement or an extraction and to follow the surgeon's instructions, after the check before you leave. Sinus lift patients receive specific advice and often wait longer. Plan the return flight with a margin rather than for the day after surgery.

Can a dentist in the US put the crown on an implant placed in Dubai?

It is possible, but your local dentist would need the implant system details and compatible parts, and would take responsibility for the fit. Most patients keep placement and crown with one team, which plans the position for the crown and has it made in its own lab. Decide before surgery.

Can I have All-on-4 in Dubai if I am travelling from the US?

Full-arch treatment is planned case by case after a CBCT scan. The number of trips, whether a temporary fixed bridge can be fitted soon after surgery, and when the final bridge is made all depend on your bone and the surgeon's assessment, so ask for the sequence in writing before booking.

What if the CBCT scan in Dubai shows I need a bone graft I did not plan for?

The plan is revised in writing and explained before anything is done, including the extra cost, the extra healing time and alternatives. You can take time to decide. Sending a recent 3D scan from the US before booking makes this kind of surprise less likely.
