Published with the patient’s consent. In the photo, the top half shows the teeth before treatment and the bottom half after. Every mouth is different: your own plan follows an examination.
Before: the situation
The upper front teeth are crowded: the two central incisors stand forward and look large, while one lateral incisor sits partly behind its neighbours and has a small notch in its biting edge. The canines stand out of the arch line, and the biting edges are at different heights. The lower front teeth are also crowded and show behind the upper ones.
What was wrong, and why it matters
When front teeth overlap and rotate, the smile line breaks into separate steps and the eye reads the teeth as uneven even when each tooth is healthy. Overlapping surfaces are also harder to clean, so plaque and staining collect in the corners where teeth cross.
Crowding changes how the teeth meet. A tooth that stands forward takes more load when biting into food, and edges that catch on each other chip more easily, which is often how small notches like the one seen here begin. Any change to shape or position has to respect how the upper and lower teeth guide the jaw.
The solution
The after photo shows the upper front teeth arranged as one continuous curve, with the central incisors no longer standing forward, matching widths from side to side, and edges that follow the line of the lower lip. The new ceramic restorations share one lighter shade.
In Dr. Marina’s approach, a crowded smile is first analysed for how far each tooth sits out of line, because that decides how much reshaping is needed and whether orthodontic alignment should come first to keep more natural tooth. The target shape is designed against the face and tested in a mock-up, and the bite is checked so the new edges guide the jaw smoothly.
How a case like this is planned and carried out
Clinical examination, smile photographs and an intraoral digital scan
Assessment of the bite, jaw joints and chewing muscles before any change in tooth position or length
Digital smile design and a mock-up so the patient can see the proposed arch line
Treatment carried out in planned stages
Restorations made with the ceramist at the dental lab in the same building
Bite reviewed and refined after fitting
After: the result
The upper front teeth now form an even, symmetrical arch with no tooth standing forward or hiding behind its neighbour. The edges run level along the lower lip, and the visible teeth share one clean, light shade.

In Dr. Marina Antoniuk’s words
Dr. Marina AntoniukOur goal is not simply to achieve straight teeth, but to create a beautiful smile that harmoniously complements the patient’s face.
Here the aim was not only to line the teeth up: the widths, edge line and shade were chosen so the new arch sits naturally within the smile and the face.

Questions about this kind of case
When are crowded front teeth restored instead of being straightened first?
It depends on how far each tooth sits out of line. Mild crowding can sometimes be corrected with restorations alone; more marked crowding often needs orthodontic alignment first, so less natural tooth has to be reshaped. Dr. Marina Antoniuk at Creative Arts in Dubai plans orthodontic and restorative stages together, after examination, photographs and a digital scan, and shows the proposed result in a mock-up.
Can I talk through a crowded, uneven smile with a Russian-speaking dentist in Dubai?
Yes. Dr. Marina Antoniuk, a dentist at Creative Arts Dental & Aesthetics in Jumeirah, Dubai, speaks English and Russian. At the consultation she examines the teeth and bite, takes photographs and a digital scan, and explains each stage of the plan in the patient’s language. Costs are given in a written, itemised plan after the examination.
