Trip planning from the US

How to Plan a Dubai Dental Trip from the USA: Fewer, Longer Visits

Medically reviewed by Dr. Kinan Bonni, Dentist · DHA Professional Unique ID 00180966 · October 2026

From the US, every extra trip costs days of travel and time off work. The answer is to plan fewer, longer visits, group the steps that can be grouped, and leave room for the steps that cannot be rushed.

Quick answer

How long should I plan to stay in Dubai for dental work from the US?

It depends on the treatment. At Creative Arts in Dubai, a straightforward veneer case usually fits one stay of about five to ten days, because the lab needs typically 3–5 working days between preparation and fitting. Implants usually need two trips a few months apart. Whitening and GBT cleaning are single visits. These are examples; your dentist confirms the schedule after examination.

The long-haul rule

Why should patients from the US plan fewer, longer dental visits?

For a patient who lives nearby, a trial smile on Monday and preparation the following week is easy. For a patient flying in from the US, each separate visit is a separate journey. So the plan is built the other way round: everything that can safely happen on one trip is grouped, and the stay is long enough to include laboratory time and a review.

Three things decide the length of a stay. Laboratory working days: ceramics are made by Creative Art Dental Lab in the same building, typically in 3–5 working days, and the lab is closed on Sunday. Biology: gums, bone and implants heal on their own timetable. Your review: the bite and gums are checked before you leave.

The clinic itself is open daily, 10:00–20:00, so appointments can fall on any day of the week. The clinic can share a suggested appointment schedule so you can book flights around it. The treatments themselves are explained on the veneers and dental implants pages.

How many trips and days do common treatments need from the US?

Typical examples for straightforward cases. They are not bookings: your dentist confirms the schedule after examination, and preparatory treatment can change it.

Countdown

What should you do in the weeks before flying from the US for dental treatment?

A practical countdown for a veneer or implant trip. Start as early as you can.

  1. Send photos, X-rays and dates

Daylight smile photos, a recent panoramic X-ray or CBCT scan, your medicines and the dates you could travel. Ask for a provisional plan and a suggested schedule.

    2–3 months before
  2. See your US dentist

A check-up and cleaning at home can find decay or gum problems that are better treated before the trip, so your days in Dubai go to the main treatment.

    6–8 weeks before
  3. Book flexible travel

Book around the suggested schedule, with a margin at the end. If you can, choose tickets you can change in case the plan changes after examination.

    Once the schedule is agreed
  4. Confirm the details

Confirm appointment times in Dubai time, send any updated medical details, and do not start home whitening unless the dentist suggests it, because it affects shade matching.

    1–2 weeks before
  5. Arrive rested

Many long-haul patients keep the first day free. Long appointments, decisions about shade and shape, and local anaesthetic are easier when you are not exhausted.

    Arrival
  6. Leave with your records

Before the last appointment, ask for your plan, X-rays, scans, materials and, for implants, the system details.

Grouping steps

What can be combined on one trip from the US, and what cannot be rushed?

Grouping saves journeys, but some waits are set by healing, not by the calendar.

Can usually be grouped

  • Examination, X-rays, CBCT scan and intraoral scan in one visit
  • GBT cleaning and in-clinic whitening before veneer shade is chosen
  • Design, trial smile and preparation within a few days
  • Implant assessment and placement when no extraction or graft is needed first

Cannot be rushed

  • Implant healing, typically 3–6 months
  • Healing after bone grafting or a sinus lift
  • Gum healing after gum contouring before final veneers
  • Tooth movement with aligners before veneers
Pack it

What should you bring from the US to your dental appointments in Dubai?

A short list that saves time on the first visit.

01

Image files

Recent X-rays and the full CBCT files from your US dentist, on a drive or as a download link.

02

A medicines list

Names and doses, including blood thinners and supplements, plus any letter from your doctor.

03

Your night guard

If you wear one, bring it. A new one may be needed after veneers change the bite.

04

Your local dentist's contact

So records and questions can be shared after you get home.

Planning around a US holiday, a wedding or an event?

Send your records early and say the date that matters. For veneers, aim to finish weeks before an event, not days, and keep a free day after fitting. For implants, remember the crown comes on the second trip, after healing. Flying after surgery is covered in how long to wait before flying. Prices for planning are on the veneers cost and implant cost pages.

Patient questions

Frequently asked questions

Can the clinic give me a schedule so I can book flights from the US?

Yes. After reviewing your photos and records, the clinic can share a suggested appointment schedule with the number of days to allow, so you can book flights around it. It is provisional until the examination in Dubai, so leave a margin at the end and, if possible, choose tickets you can change.

Should I plan a rest day after the flight from the US before my first dental appointment?

Many long-haul patients do. The first visit involves an examination, scans and decisions about shade and shape, and veneer preparation or implant surgery can follow soon after. Those are easier when you are rested. Tell the clinic your arrival date so the first appointment is set accordingly.

What if the examination in Dubai changes my US trip plan?

Then the plan is revised in writing and explained before anything irreversible is done. Common reasons are decay under old fillings, gum problems or bone levels on the CBCT scan. You can choose to treat those first, adjust the sequence, or take the revised plan home to think about.

Is it better to have fillings done at home before a dental trip to Dubai from the US?

Often it is. Small fillings and cleaning with your US dentist before you travel mean your time in Dubai goes to the veneers or implants. Mention any recent work when you send your records, as new fillings on teeth that will have veneers may be planned differently.

Can I combine veneers and an implant on one trip from the US?

Partly. The implant usually goes in first, because the bone needs months to heal. Veneers and the implant crown are best designed together at the end so shade and shape match, which often means the veneers are done on the second trip. Ask for one combined plan.

Which days of the week matter when planning a dental trip from the US to Dubai?

The clinic is open every day, 10:00–20:00, but Creative Art Dental Lab is closed on Sunday. A Sunday in the middle of laboratory time can add a day before your veneers or crown are ready to fit, so ask for the laboratory days to be planned around it when the schedule is set.
