Local anaesthesia
Numbs the area while you stay fully awake. You feel pressure rather than sharp pain, and can usually drive home.
Implant surgery, bone grafts, surgical extractions and jaw-surgery planning led by Dr. Firas Osman, in operating rooms equipped for dental and oral surgery, with anaesthesia chosen for you and the procedure.
You receive a written, itemised plan, including the anaesthesia option, before any surgery is booked.
At Creative Arts in Dubai, oral and maxillofacial surgery covers implant surgery, bone grafts and sinus lifts, surgical and wisdom-tooth extractions, exposure of impacted canines, jaw cyst removal and the planning of corrective jaw surgery. It is led by Dr. Firas Osman, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon & Implantologist, in operating rooms equipped for dental and oral surgery, with local anaesthesia, conscious sedation or general anaesthesia chosen after a medical-history review.
Corrective jaw (orthognathic) surgery is performed under general anaesthesia in a hospital; Dr. Firas Osman plans it and explains where it takes place.

Dr. Firas Osman graduated in stomatology from the Moscow Medical Stomatological Institute, trained in oral and maxillofacial surgery through the Syrian Ministry of Health, and has practised for about three decades in Russia, Syria and the UAE. He speaks Arabic, Russian and English.
He reads the CBCT scans and decides with you whether surgery is needed at all, which approach suits your bone and anatomy, and which level of anaesthesia fits the procedure. He works with our specialist orthodontists on impacted canines and jaw-surgery cases, and with the restorative dentists so the teeth that go on implants are planned before the first incision.
Each page explains who the treatment suits, how it is planned and what recovery involves.
Single teeth to full arches, planned on a CBCT scan.
Grafting the socket at extraction so the ridge keeps its shape for an implant.
Rebuilding a ridge too thin or too low to hold an implant.
Adding bone under the sinus floor before upper back implants.
Impacted wisdom teeth, assessed for their relation to the nerve.
Simple and surgical extractions, with replacement options discussed first.
Surgical extractions and bone grafting at a glance.
Uncovering a buried canine so the orthodontist can guide it into place.
Removing a jaw cyst, with the tissue sent for histology.
Planned here with the orthodontists; the operation takes place in a hospital.
Our operating rooms are equipped for dental and oral surgery with every level of anaesthesia and patient comfort. Local anaesthesia numbs the area in every case; sedation changes how aware you are.
Numbs the area while you stay fully awake. You feel pressure rather than sharp pain, and can usually drive home.
Inhaled through a nose mask; it eases anxiety and wears off within minutes. See laughing gas.
Drowsy but breathing for yourself and able to respond. IV sedation is the deepest level; both need an adult escort home.
You are unconscious, with an anaesthesiologist giving and monitoring the anaesthetic, for selected cases; see general anaesthesia.
How each option feels, who it suits and how you get home.
Sterile set-up, monitoring, the recovery area and what happens on the day.
Light, adjustable sedation for milder anxiety and shorter procedures.
A sedative tablet taken before treatment; deeper than gas, less adjustable than IV.
Deep relaxation through a fine cannula, for wisdom teeth, grafts and several implants.
Pre-assessment, fasting, the anaesthesiologist's role and honest risks.
Talk-first visits, a stop signal and sedation only where it helps.
Implant surgery with conscious sedation or general anaesthesia.
Most surgery in the mouth is minor oral surgery and is carried out in our operating rooms. Major surgery on the jaws is planned here and performed in a hospital.
| Minor oral surgery | Major maxillofacial surgery | |
|---|---|---|
| Examples | Surgical and wisdom-tooth extractions, implants, bone grafts, sinus lift, canine exposure, many jaw cysts | Corrective (orthognathic) jaw surgery |
| Usual anaesthesia | Local anaesthesia, with sedation if needed; general anaesthesia for selected cases | General anaesthesia given by an anaesthesiologist |
| Where | Creative Arts operating rooms, Jumeirah | A hospital operating theatre |
| Recovery | Typically several days of swelling and tenderness | Typically several weeks, with a soft diet and follow-up over months |
Typical patterns, not promises. Read the full guide to minor vs major oral surgery.
The option is chosen for you and the procedure after a medical-history review. Sedation and anaesthesia are given and monitored by an appropriately qualified, licensed clinician; general anaesthesia by an anaesthesiologist. Fasting rules and an adult escort apply where relevant.
Background reading before surgery, and help with problems afterwards.
Anaesthesia, setting and recovery compared.
Awareness, fasting and recovery side by side.
Simple, surgical and wisdom-tooth extractions.
Graft materials and when each is used.
The first days, the healing months, warning signs.
Why bone is lost and how it is rebuilt.
What is normal and when to call.
Pain a few days after an extraction.
Teeth that cannot come through.

Yes. Creative Arts has operating rooms (surgical suites) equipped for dental and oral surgery, with local anaesthesia, laughing gas, tablet or IV sedation and general anaesthesia available. It is a dental centre, not a hospital, so major jaw surgery takes place in a hospital.
For selected cases: extensive surgery in one session, severe phobia where sedation is not enough, or special needs. An anaesthesiologist gives and monitors it after a pre-assessment; you fast beforehand and go home with an adult. Most oral surgery uses local anaesthesia, with or without sedation.
No. Orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery is major surgery under general anaesthesia in a hospital. Dr. Firas Osman assesses and plans it with our specialist orthodontists, who prepare the teeth beforehand, and explains where the operation will take place.
Most procedures start with an examination and an X-ray. A CBCT 3D scan is added when roots, the jaw nerve or the sinus are close to the surgical site, and for implant, graft and sinus-lift planning. Jaw-surgery cases also need orthodontic records.
No. Facial fracture and trauma surgery, cleft surgery and facial plastic surgery are not offered here. After a blow to the face, or with swelling and difficulty breathing or swallowing, go to a hospital emergency department straight away.
