Quick answer

What is a celebrity smile?

A celebrity smile is an informal name for a bright, symmetrical, camera-ready smile: even edges, balanced tooth proportions, a level gum line and a light but natural shade. It is a look, not a single treatment. At Creative Arts in Dubai, a dentist examines your teeth, gums and bite, plans the mix (often whitening, bonding or veneers), and you try the design in your mouth before anything is changed.

The look

What do people mean by a “celebrity smile”?

There is no clinical definition. Screenshots patients bring us share the same five features, and each can be measured and planned.

01

Brightness that suits the face

Clearly light teeth, in proportion to skin tone and the whites of the eyes. A shade beyond natural can look good under studio light and chalky in daylight.

02

A centred, upright midline

The line between the upper front teeth sits near the centre of the face and runs vertically. Cameras exaggerate a tilted midline.

03

Balanced proportions

The two upper central incisors lead, usually about three-quarters as wide as they are long, and the side teeth step back gradually.

04

Edges that follow the lower lip

In a full smile the biting edges form a gentle curve that follows the lower lip. Flat, straight-across edges make a smile look older.

05

A level, healthy gum frame

Gum margins that are even on both sides and pink, not swollen. An uneven gum line makes well-shaped teeth look crooked.

Natural, not fake

Why some celebrity-style smiles look fake, and how to avoid it

Smiles people call fake usually fail on the same few details; colour alone is rarely the problem.

  • One flat shade: natural teeth are warmer near the gum and slightly translucent at the edge. A single opaque white reads as a coating.
  • Identical teeth: when every tooth has the same width and length, the eye sees a row, not a smile.
  • Too long or too bulky: teeth thicker than the lips can support push the lips forward and can change speech.
  • No surface texture: enamel has fine ridges that scatter light; a glassy surface looks like plastic in photographs.

Our page on natural-looking veneers shows how these details are built in, and what makes a smile look balanced explains the measurements.

Is it for you?

Who a celebrity smile suits, and when to start somewhere else

Usually a good starting point

  • Healthy gums and teeth, with a smile that is discoloured, chipped, uneven or small
  • You want a brighter, more even smile and are open to a shade that suits your face
  • You are happy to test the design as a mock-up before deciding
  • Old veneers or crowns that look opaque or show dark edges at the gum

Start with something else first

  • Bleeding gums or decay: these are treated before any cosmetic work
  • Crowded or rotated teeth: aligners first often means fewer veneers and less enamel removed
  • Colour is the only concern: teeth whitening may be enough
  • Heavy grinding with no plan for a night guard
  • You want an exact copy of someone else's teeth: tooth size has to fit your own face and lips
The process

How a camera-ready smile is planned and tested

Timings vary with the number of teeth and any treatment needed first. The order does not.

  1. Examination and smile records

Your dentist checks gums, bite and existing fillings, then takes photographs and short videos of you talking and smiling, plus a 3D scan. Bring screenshots of smiles you like.

    Visit 1
  2. Digital smile design

Tooth length, width, midline and edge curve are designed against your face and lip line. See digital smile design.

    Design stage
  3. Mock-up and test photos

The design is copied into a temporary trial in your mouth. Look at it in daylight, take your own photos and ask people you trust before anything is decided.

    Before preparation
  4. Preparation and lab work

Only after you approve does your dentist prepare the teeth that need it. The ceramic is then made and hand-finished at Creative Art Dental Lab in the same building, typically within 3–5 working days.

    Treatment
  5. Try-in, bonding and review

Shade and shape are checked in your mouth before bonding, the bite is balanced, and you return for a review. A night guard is advised if you grind.

From dentist to dental lab

Why a lab in the same building matters for a bright smile

Creative Arts Aesthetic & Dental Center and Creative Art Dental Lab are in the same building at 614 Jumeira St, Jumeirah 3, Dubai. A light shade is the hardest to make look natural, because every flaw in translucency shows. The ceramist sees your teeth, lips and skin tone under the same light as your dentist, and can refine shape or surface after the try-in.

  1. 1Consultation & records — examination, photographs and the radiographs your case needs
  2. 2Digital scan — an intraoral scan replaces impression trays for most cases
  3. 3Design — the restoration or smile is designed digitally and reviewed with you
  4. 4Lab fabrication — milled from ceramic, then hand-finished for shade and texture
  5. 5Try-in — shade, shape and fit checked in your mouth, adjusted in-house if needed
  6. 6Placement & review — bonded or cemented, bite balanced, reviewed afterwards

Basem Tobaji, Celebrity Smile Designer: what his role is

Basem Tobaji is a Celebrity Smile Designer and the CEO of Creative Art Group, which includes Creative Art Dental Lab and our clinic, with about 30 years in the dental field. His focus is smile design and ceramic work: proportion, shade and surface. He is not a dentist and does not examine, diagnose, prepare teeth or treat patients; your dentist makes every clinical decision. “Celebrity” describes a style of smile, not a client list: we do not name or claim any well-known patients.

Patient questions

Frequently asked questions

Is a celebrity smile the same as a Hollywood Smile?

They overlap. “Hollywood Smile” usually means veneers or crowns across every tooth that shows when you smile. “Celebrity smile” describes the look, and can sometimes be reached with fewer veneers, or none, combined with whitening and bonding. If you already want veneers across the whole smile, see our Hollywood Smile page.

Can I get a celebrity smile without veneers?

Sometimes. If your teeth are well shaped and fairly straight, professional cleaning, whitening and small bonding corrections can give a bright, even result with no enamel removed. Crowding is often better treated with aligners first. Veneers come in where shape, size or deep discolouration cannot be changed another way. See our page on a smile makeover without veneers.

Can I show my dentist a photo of a celebrity smile I like?

Yes, and it helps: screenshots show the brightness, edge shape and tooth length you are drawn to. We do not copy another person's teeth, because their size and shape fit their face and lips, not yours. The design adapts the features you like to your proportions, and the mock-up lets you judge the result in your own mouth.

How white should a celebrity smile be?

Bright enough to look clean, not so white that the teeth stand apart from your face. The shade is chosen against your skin tone and the whites of your eyes, then checked in daylight during the mock-up. The very lightest shades can look striking on camera and chalky in person, so many people settle one step down.

Will a celebrity smile look fake?

Not if it is designed with natural detail: a slight shade gradient, translucent edges, fine surface texture and teeth of slightly different widths. Smiles look fake when they are one flat shade, too long or too bulky. Wearing the design as a mock-up before any preparation is the most reliable way to catch that early.

How long does a celebrity smile take in Dubai?

With veneers alone, typically a few weeks: an examination, a design and mock-up stage, a preparation visit, then fitting once the laboratory has made the ceramic. Whitening or gum contouring first adds time, and aligners add months. Our smile makeover timeline explains the usual sequences.

How much does a celebrity smile cost in Dubai?

It depends on how many teeth are treated, which material suits each tooth, and whether whitening, gum work or alignment is needed first. We do not quote a package price; after an examination you receive a written, itemised plan with alternatives. Our smile makeover cost guide explains what moves the figure.
