Dental Implants in Dubai for UK Patients: How the Two-Trip Plan Works

Medically reviewed by Dr. Kinan Bonni, Dentist · DHA Professional Unique ID 00180966 · October 2026

Bone needs months to bond to an implant, so most UK patients make two trips: one for surgery, one for the crown. Here is what happens on each, and in the months at home between them.

  • Implants from AED 4,000 per implant
  • Planned on a 3D CBCT scan
  • Crown made in the same building

Quick answer

How many trips to Dubai do dental implants need from the UK?

Usually two. On the first trip, Creative Arts plans the implant on a 3D CBCT scan and places it under local anaesthetic, then you heal at home in the UK, typically for 3–6 months while the bone bonds to the implant. On the second trip the crown is scanned, made by Creative Art Dental Lab in typically 3–5 working days and fitted. Implants start from AED 4,000 per implant.

The two-trip plan

What happens on each implant trip from the UK, and in between?

A typical single or multiple implant case with enough bone. Your surgeon confirms the schedule after examination.

  1. From the UK: records and medical history

Send a recent panoramic X-ray or CBCT scan if you have one, a list of your medicines and any conditions such as diabetes. A provisional plan and suggested schedule follow.

    Before you book
  2. Trip 1: examination and 3D scan

The clinic takes its own CBCT scan to measure bone height and width and plan the implant position, sometimes with a surgical guide 3D-printed in the lab.

    Day 1
  3. Trip 1: placement

The implant is placed in the clinic's operating room under local anaesthetic, with conscious sedation possible after a medical-history review.

    Day 1–3
  4. Trip 1: check before flying

The surgeon checks healing and gives written instructions. Typical advice is to wait a few days after surgery before flying; follow your surgeon's advice for your case.

    A few days later
  5. At home in the UK: healing

The bone bonds to the implant. You send photos if asked, and a video review can be arranged. A front tooth can usually have a temporary so there is no visible gap.

    Typically 3–6 months
  6. Trip 2: crown

Stability is checked, the implant is scanned and the crown is made in Creative Art Dental Lab, then fitted and the bite adjusted.

Starting price

What do dental implants in Dubai cost for patients from the UK?

The same starting price applies to every patient. What each case needs is written in your plan before surgery.

TreatmentPricePer
Dental implantFrom AED 4,000per implant

Starting prices at Creative Arts, 614 Jumeira St, Jumeirah 3, Dubai. Your exact price, with the material and number of teeth, is written in your plan after examination.

Your plan

What changes the implant price and the number of trips?

Both depend on the bone and the teeth around the gap, which the 3D scan shows.

  • An extraction firstIf a tooth must come out, the implant may be placed at the same visit or after the socket heals, which can add a trip. See implants after an extraction.
  • Bone grafting or a sinus liftToo little bone means a graft, and healing often takes longer. Read bone grafting and sinus lift.
  • Number and position of implantsSeveral implants, or a bridge on implants, change the plan and the lab work.
  • What your plan includesYour written plan lists exactly what is included for your case: implant, crown, any bone graft. See implant cost in Dubai.

Surgery in the clinic

Operating rooms for minor and major oral surgery and implant surgery

Creative Arts has its own operating rooms for minor and major oral surgery and for implant surgery — implants, bone grafts, sinus lifts, surgical extractions and wisdom teeth. Oral & maxillofacial surgeon Dr. Firas Osman assesses and plans surgical cases, with 3D (CBCT) imaging and, where the case calls for it, surgical guides 3D-printed in our own laboratory.

  • Local anaesthesiafor most procedures
  • Laughing gasnitrous oxide inhalation sedation
  • Oral sedationa tablet taken before treatment
  • IV sedationconscious sedation through a vein
  • The option is chosen for you and for the procedure after a medical-history review.
  • Sedation is given and monitored by an appropriately qualified, licensed clinician; fasting rules and an adult escort apply where relevant.
  • General anaesthesia is not given at the clinic. When a case needs it — for example corrective jaw (orthognathic) surgery — Dr. Firas Osman plans it and arranges it in a hospital.
Between the two trips

What happens at home in the UK while the implant heals?

The months between trips are not idle; this is when the implant becomes stable.

01

Normal life, with care

Eat on the other side at first, keep the area clean as instructed and avoid smoking, which slows healing. The implant aftercare guide covers the first weeks.

03

Check-ins from the UK

Send photos on WhatsApp if asked. Your UK dentist can see you if something worries you, and can send an X-ray to the clinic.

04

Planning trip 2

Near the end of healing, the clinic suggests dates for the crown so you can book around them.

Exceptions

Which implant cases from the UK need more, or fewer, than two trips?

Two trips is the usual pattern, not a rule. Your surgeon explains which applies after the CBCT scan.

SituationTypical patternWhy
Single implant, enough bone, healthy gumsTwo tripsPlacement, then the crown after healing
Tooth to be extracted first, socket needs to healSometimes three tripsExtraction, then implant, then crown
Bone graft or sinus lift neededTwo or three trips, with longer healingThe graft has to mature before or around the implant
Immediate implant after extractionPossible in some cases, never promisedDepends on bone and stability at surgery; see immediate implants
Full-arch teeth on implantsPlanned individuallySee All-on-4 and full-arch implants

Typical patterns, not promises. Your surgeon confirms the schedule after examination.

Flying back to the UK after implant surgery

Typical advice after implants, extractions or bone grafts is to wait a few days before flying and follow your surgeon's instructions. After a sinus lift you get specific advice, as pressure changes and nose-blowing matter. See flying after dental surgery and tooth pain when flying.

Our in-house dental lab

The tooth on your implant is made in our own lab

The implant is placed in the clinic; the crown or bridge it carries is designed and made in the laboratory in the same building, so planning, shade and fit are checked by people working side by side.

Records

What implant details should your UK dentist have?

An implant is maintained for life, mostly by your local dentist and hygienist. Before you leave Dubai after the crown, you receive a summary with the implant manufacturer and system, its diameter and length, the type of abutment and how the crown is fixed (screwed or cemented), along with your X-rays and CBCT images.

With these, a UK dentist can tighten a loose crown screw or order a compatible part instead of guessing. The aftercare guide for UK patients lists every record, and care for implants placed abroad explains why these details matter. The treatment itself is described on the dental implants page.

Patient questions

Frequently asked questions

Why do dental implants in Dubai usually need two trips from the UK?

Because the bone has to bond to the implant before it can carry a crown. This healing, called osseointegration, typically takes 3–6 months, and longer after a bone graft. You spend that time at home in the UK, then return for the crown, which takes about a week including lab time.

Can I have an implant placed in Dubai and the crown fitted by my UK dentist?

It is possible in principle if your UK dentist works with that implant system and can order the parts. Most patients keep both stages with one team, which plans the position with the crown in mind, has it made in its own lab and is responsible for the fit. Decide before surgery.

How soon can I fly back to the UK after implant surgery in Dubai?

Typical advice is to wait a few days after implant placement, extractions or bone grafts, and to follow your surgeon's instructions for your case. After a sinus lift you receive specific advice. The clinic checks healing before you fly and gives written instructions to take home.

Can I send my CBCT scan from the UK before implant surgery in Dubai?

Yes. A recent CBCT or panoramic X-ray from your UK dentist helps the surgeon judge bone and suggest a provisional plan and number of trips before you book. The clinic usually takes its own CBCT scan before surgery to plan the exact position.

What should I do if my implant feels loose or sore after I return to the UK?

Send the clinic a photo and a description on WhatsApp during opening hours. A crown that moves is often a loose screw, which a UK dentist can check with the system details from your summary. Swelling with fever, or difficulty breathing or swallowing, needs urgent medical care in the UK first.

Will I have a gap at the front between implant trips if I live in the UK?

Usually not. For a visible front tooth, a temporary tooth is normally made, either a small removable one or one bonded to the teeth next to it, so you go home without a gap. Your surgeon explains which suits your case, as the temporary must not press on the healing implant.

Is implant surgery for UK patients done under general anaesthetic in Dubai?

No. Implants are placed under local anaesthetic, with laughing gas, oral or IV conscious sedation possible after a medical-history review. General anaesthesia is not given at the clinic; when a case truly needs it, it is planned and arranged in a hospital.
