Is a dental implant right for me?

What exactly is a dental implant, in simple words?

A dental implant is a small post, usually titanium, placed in the jawbone to act as an artificial root for a new tooth. Over about 3–6 months the bone bonds to it, then a crown, bridge or full-arch set of teeth is fixed on top. It does not lean on the neighbouring teeth for support. A free first consultation shows whether an implant suits your mouth. Read the full page

Who should not get dental implants?

Implants are not suitable for everyone: teenagers whose jaws are still growing, people with uncontrolled diabetes, recent radiotherapy to the jaw or some bone-strengthening medicines usually need a different plan or extra precautions. Heavy smoking and active gum disease raise the risk of failure and are dealt with first. Your dentist reviews your medical history and a 3D scan, and will tell you if a bridge or another option is safer. Read the full page

Do I need to replace a missing back tooth if nobody can see the gap?

Often yes, because a gap at the back can let the neighbouring teeth tilt and the opposite tooth drift, and the bone in that spot slowly shrinks. Not every gap must be filled, though; some people with a stable bite manage well. The choices are an implant, a bridge or simply keeping it under review. Your dentist can check your bite and tell you honestly whether replacing it is worthwhile. Read the full page

Will anyone be able to tell which tooth is the implant?

A well-planned implant crown is usually hard to tell apart from your own teeth, because its shape and shade are matched to the teeth beside it. Front teeth are the most demanding, since the gum line and bone level affect how natural it looks. At Creative Arts the crown is made in the dental lab in the same building, where the technician can see your teeth under the same light as the dentist. Read the full page

Implant, bridge, denture or All-on-4: which option fits?

Implant or bridge for one missing tooth: which suits me?

An implant replaces the tooth on its own, while a bridge is held by the teeth on each side, which usually need to be shaped for crowns. If those neighbours are healthy, an implant often spares them; if they already have large fillings or crowns, a bridge can make sense and avoids surgery. A bridge is faster, an implant takes months. Ask for both options, with pros and cons, in your written plan. Read the full page

What are my options if I have lost all or nearly all my teeth?

The main options are a removable complete denture, a denture that clips onto a few implants, or a fixed full-arch bridge screwed onto several implants, often called All-on-4. Fixed teeth feel closest to natural teeth but need enough bone and surgery; a denture needs no surgery. Creative Arts does not make removable dentures, but your dentist will still explain every route so you can choose. Read the full page

What is All-on-4 in simple terms?

All-on-4 replaces a whole arch of teeth with one fixed bridge held by four implants, with the back implants often angled to make use of the available bone. You do not take the bridge out at home; your dentist removes it for professional cleaning when needed. The final number of implants per arch, four or more, is decided from your 3D CBCT scan rather than fixed in advance. Read the full page

Is a fixed full-arch bridge worth it compared with wearing a denture?

A fixed full-arch bridge usually feels more stable for chewing and speaking than a denture and helps preserve the bone where the implants sit, but it needs surgery, healing time and a bigger budget. A denture is quicker, needs no surgery and can be the right choice for people who cannot have, or prefer to avoid, surgery. Your dentist should explain both honestly before you decide. Read the full page

Do I need one implant for every missing tooth?

No, not always. Two implants can often carry a three-tooth bridge, and a full arch can usually be held by four to six implants rather than one per tooth. Fewer implants can mean less surgery, but only when the bone and bite allow it. The number in your plan comes from your 3D scan and the way you bite, and the dentist should explain why that number was chosen. Read the full page

Why does my dentist say I need a bone graft first?

A bone graft is needed when the jawbone is too thin or too short to hold an implant securely, which often happens after a tooth has been missing for a while or after an infection. Graft material rebuilds the area, either at the same time as the implant or a few months before it. Your 3D CBCT scan shows how much bone you have, so you can see the reason for yourself. Read the full page

What is a sinus lift and why would I need one?

A sinus lift adds bone under the floor of the sinus above the upper back teeth, where the bone is often thin, so an implant has enough to anchor into. It is done under local anaesthetic, with sedation if you prefer; most people feel pressure rather than pain, and swelling for a few days is usual. It typically adds several months of healing to the implant timeline. Read the full page

Is there a way to replace teeth without any surgery?

Yes. A conventional bridge or a removable denture replaces teeth without surgery, and for one front tooth a resin-bonded (Maryland) bridge needs very little shaping of the neighbouring teeth. These suit people who cannot have surgery or would rather avoid it, although dentures do not stop the bone shrinking. Ask your dentist to include the non-surgical route in your written plan so you can compare. Read the full page

My tooth is being pulled: can the implant go in at the same appointment?

Sometimes. Placing the implant at the extraction visit is possible when the infection is controlled and there is enough healthy bone to hold it firmly. Often the dentist prefers to let the socket heal first, sometimes with a graft to preserve the bone. Whether a temporary tooth can go on straight away is also decided case by case and is never promised before the scan. Read the full page

How much do dental implants cost in Dubai, and where?

How much is a single tooth implant at Creative Arts?

Dental implants at Creative Arts start from AED 4,000 per implant. Your written plan lists exactly what is included for your case, such as the implant, the crown and any bone graft, so you know the full picture before you start. The first consultation is free, and you can send a photo on WhatsApp (+971 56 677 7537) for a free initial assessment. Read the full page

Why do implant prices in Dubai vary so much between clinics?

Implant quotes vary because they include different things: some cover only the implant post, others add the abutment, crown, 3D scan, temporary tooth or grafting. The crown material, the implant system, whether surgery is 3D-guided and who places the implant also change the figure. Compare quotes line by line, and ask each clinic what happens, and what it costs, if a graft turns out to be needed. Read the full page

How much does All-on-4 cost for one jaw?

All-on-4 and other full-arch treatments are priced in your written, itemised plan after a free first consultation and a 3D scan, because the number of implants, any grafting, the temporary teeth and the material of the final bridge differ a lot from person to person. The plan shows each item separately, so you can see what you are paying for before you commit. Read the full page

Is a bone graft or sinus lift charged on top of the implant?

If you need a bone graft or sinus lift, it appears as its own line in your written, itemised plan, priced after the examination and 3D scan. Not everyone needs one; it depends on how much bone is left where the tooth was. Asking about grafting before you start avoids the most common surprise in implant treatment. Read the full page

What should I check before comparing two implant quotes?

Check whether each quote includes the 3D CBCT scan, the implant, the abutment, the final crown and its material, any temporary tooth, grafting if needed, and follow-up visits. Ask who places the implant and who makes the crown. A lower quote that leaves out the crown or the graft can end up costing more. Ask for every item in writing before you agree to treatment. Where is the implant clinic and when is it open?

Creative Arts Dental & Aesthetics is at 614 Jumeira St, Jumeirah 3, Umm Suqeim 1, Dubai, and is open every day from 10:00 to 20:00. I live in Abu Dhabi or abroad: how many trips do implants need?

Most single implants need two main stages: placing the implant, then fitting the final crown after about 3–6 months of healing, with a check in between if needed. Patients from other emirates or abroad often plan the scan and surgery in one trip and the crown in a second. Send your X-rays or a photo on WhatsApp first, so the dentist can outline the visits before you book travel. Read the full page

Who places the implant, and can I trust the clinic?

Which doctor places implants at Creative Arts?

Implant surgery at Creative Arts is carried out by Dr. Firas Osman, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon & Implantologist, and by Dr. Khalid Saeed and Dr. Kinan Bonni, who also plan the teeth that go on top. Complex grafting and sinus lifts are typically assessed by Dr. Firas Osman, who speaks Arabic, Russian and English. Ask at your consultation who will do each stage of your treatment. How do I check that an implant dentist is licensed in Dubai?

Every dentist practising in Dubai must hold a Dubai Health Authority licence, which you can look up on the DHA Sheryan professional search by the doctor's name or licence number. Creative Arts publishes each doctor's DHA Professional Unique ID on their profile page, so you can check it before your appointment. A licence check takes a few minutes and is worth doing before any surgery. Read the full page

Can I see where the implant will go before the surgery?

Yes. Implant planning uses a 3D CBCT scan and digital planning software, so the dentist can show you your bone, nerves and sinus and the planned implant position on screen. Where it helps, a 3D-printed surgical guide is made to carry that plan accurately into surgery. Ask to go through your scan at the consultation; it also shows whether you need a graft. Read the full page

Who makes the crown or bridge that goes on my implant?

At Creative Arts, implant crowns and full-arch bridges are made by the Creative Art Dental Lab, a separate business in the same building that has operated for 27 years. The technician can see your teeth in person to match the shade, and small adjustments can be made on the day. The final crown is not made same-day; lab work typically takes 3–5 working days. What do patients say about implant treatment at the clinic?

Creative Arts has a 4.8 rating on Google from 238 reviews. Reviews are a useful start, but for implants also ask to see your own 3D scan, who will place the implant, what the written plan includes and what happens if something goes wrong. A clinic that answers those questions clearly, in writing, is easier to trust than a rating alone. Read the full page

Surgery day, healing and aftercare

Will I be awake during my implant surgery?

Usually yes: implant surgery is done under local anaesthetic, and most people feel pressure and vibration rather than pain. If you are anxious, conscious sedation is available, using laughing gas, oral or IV sedation, given and monitored by a licensed clinician after a medical-history review. General anaesthesia is not given at the clinic; when it is truly needed, it is arranged in a hospital. Read the full page

How many days off work will I need after an implant?

Most people go back to desk work the next day, or after one to two days, following a single implant. After grafting, a sinus lift or full-arch surgery, plan a few days of rest, because swelling usually peaks around day two or three. If you have sedation, you need an adult to take you home and should not drive for the rest of that day. Read the full page

What can I eat in the first week after an implant?

Choose soft, lukewarm food such as yoghurt, cooled soup, eggs, rice and mashed vegetables for the first few days, and chew on the other side. Avoid very hot drinks, crunchy or sticky food, straws, smoking and shisha, which slow healing. Your written aftercare sheet tells you when you can return to normal food for your particular case. Read the full page

Will I have a gap in my smile while the implant heals?

Usually not in a visible area. For front teeth a temporary tooth is normally arranged, such as a small removable plate, a bonded temporary or, when the case allows, a temporary crown on the implant. For back teeth, a gap for a few months is often acceptable. Ask what you will wear during healing; it should be written into your plan. Read the full page

How long from implant surgery to the final tooth?

Typically 3–6 months, because the bone needs time to bond to the implant before it takes chewing forces. If a bone graft or sinus lift is needed first, the whole process can take longer, sometimes several more months. Once the implant has healed, your mouth is scanned and the final crown is made in the lab, which usually takes 3–5 working days. Read the full page

How long will a dental implant last?

With good cleaning and regular check-ups, many implants last for decades, although nothing in dentistry is permanent and results vary. The crown on top wears like any crown and may need replacing over time. Smoking, gum disease, uncontrolled diabetes and grinding raise the risk of problems, so a night guard and professional cleaning may be part of your aftercare. Read the full page

What happens if my implant does not heal properly?

Occasionally an implant does not bond to the bone; it usually becomes loose or sore within the first months. In that case it is removed, the area is left to heal and, often, a new implant can be placed later, sometimes with a graft. Contact the clinic if you notice looseness, pus or worsening pain, and ask what follow-up your plan includes. Read the full page

When should I call the clinic after implant surgery?

Call during opening hours, 10:00–20:00 daily, if bleeding does not slow with firm pressure, if pain or swelling gets worse after the third day, or if you have a fever or a bad taste with pus. If swelling spreads towards your eye or neck, or you have difficulty breathing or swallowing, go to a hospital emergency department immediately. Read the full page

Special situations: diabetes, grinding and religious questions

Does well-controlled diabetes stop me from getting an implant?

Well-controlled diabetes usually does not rule out implants, but healing can be slower and the infection risk higher, so your dentist will ask about your recent blood-sugar results and may coordinate with your doctor. Poorly controlled diabetes is a reason to wait and stabilise first. Good control before and after surgery matters more than the diagnosis itself. Read the full page

I grind my teeth at night: will that damage an implant?

Heavy grinding can overload an implant and chip or loosen the crown, but it rarely makes implants impossible. Your dentist may plan the bite carefully, choose a stronger crown material and recommend a night guard to wear after treatment. Tell the dentist if you wake up with jaw ache or notice worn teeth, so this is built into your plan. Read the full page

Is the bone graft material used for implants halal?

Graft materials come in several types: your own bone, synthetic materials, and processed donor or animal-derived bone, often bovine. If you have religious or personal concerns, say so at the consultation; synthetic material or your own bone can often be considered instead, and the material should be named in your written plan. The titanium implant itself raises no such question. Read the full page
