One pathway, several parts

Corrective Jaw Surgery (Orthognathic) Cost in Dubai

Orthognathic surgery is not one bill but a pathway: planning, orthodontics, an operation in hospital and finishing treatment. Each part is priced, and provided, differently.

  • Joint surgeon and orthodontist assessment
  • CBCT 3D surgical planning
  • Clinic and hospital stages itemised

Quick answer

How much does jaw surgery cost in Dubai?

The cost of corrective jaw surgery in Dubai is the sum of several stages: assessment and 3D planning, orthodontics before and after the operation, the hospital stage with general anaesthesia and an overnight stay, and follow-up. Surgery on one jaw costs less than on both. At Creative Arts your written plan separates the clinic stages from the hospital stage, whose fees the hospital sets.

Cost drivers

What changes the cost of corrective jaw surgery?

Two people with the same diagnosis can have quite different plans. These are the main reasons.

  • One jaw or bothMoving both jaws means a longer operation, more planning and fixation and usually a longer hospital stay and recovery.
  • Length of orthodonticsCrowded or tilted teeth take longer to prepare before surgery; the orthodontic phases often make up a large part of the total.
  • The hospital stageTheatre time, general anaesthesia given by an anaesthesiologist and the number of nights in hospital are set by the hospital and explained before you commit.
  • Treatment needed firstGum treatment, fillings or removal of wisdom teeth in the line of the surgery may be needed beforehand.
  • ComplexityFacial asymmetry or a combination of problems, such as an open bite with an underbite, adds planning and surgical time.
Alternatives

Is there a cheaper alternative to jaw surgery?

Sometimes. When the jaw difference is mild, braces alone can often move the teeth to disguise it, an approach called orthodontic camouflage. It avoids surgery, a hospital stay and general anaesthesia, so it usually costs less. The trade-off is that the jaws themselves stay where they are: the profile does not change, and in some cases the teeth have to be tilted further than is ideal for the gums or long-term stability.

When the skeletal difference is larger, camouflage may not be able to give a stable bite, and surgery combined with orthodontics becomes the reliable route. Our specialist orthodontists and Dr. Firas Osman assess which side of that line you are on, and your written plan sets the options side by side. For bite problems in children who are still growing, earlier orthodontic assessment can sometimes change what is needed later; see our underbite correction page.

Insurance

Is corrective jaw surgery covered by insurance?

It depends entirely on your policy. Some policies consider jaw surgery when it treats a functional problem, such as difficulty biting or chewing, and require pre-approval with records; others exclude it, or cover the hospital stage differently from the orthodontic stages. Cover for treatment that is mainly about appearance is uncommon.

Because the pathway has distinct stages, an itemised plan makes it easier to ask your insurer about each one. Ask before treatment starts, and keep copies of the assessment, imaging and plan. Our guide to dental insurance in Dubai explains how to read a table of benefits.

Compare fairly

How do you compare jaw surgery quotes?

Ask for these in writing from any clinic or hospital you are considering.

Ask forWhy it matters
Which stages the quote coversSome quotes cover only the operation; others only the orthodontics
One jaw or both, and whyDouble-jaw surgery is a different operation
Where the operation takes placeHospital fees, theatre time and length of stay differ
Who gives the anaestheticGeneral anaesthesia should be given by an anaesthesiologist
How long orthodontics will takeMonths of braces before and after are part of the total
What follow-up is includedReviews and retainers continue after the operation

Why a jaw surgery figure needs both the surgeon and the orthodontist

A quote from a surgeon alone leaves out the months of orthodontics, and a quote from an orthodontist alone leaves out the operation. Neither can be accurate until both have examined you, looked at the same 3D imaging and agreed whether one jaw or both should move. That is why the first step at Creative Arts is a joint assessment, not a price list.

Patient questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does corrective jaw surgery cost in Dubai?

There is no single figure, because the total combines assessment and planning, orthodontics before and after surgery, the hospital stage with general anaesthesia, and follow-up. Surgery on both jaws costs more than on one. After a joint assessment, Creative Arts gives you a written plan that separates the clinic stages from the hospital stage.

Is the hospital fee included in a jaw surgery quote?

Not always, so check. Orthognathic surgery takes place in a hospital under general anaesthesia, and the hospital sets its own fees for theatre time, anaesthesia and the stay. At Creative Arts these are explained before you commit, and shown separately from the assessment, planning and orthodontic stages provided at the clinic.

Are braces included in the cost of jaw surgery?

Orthodontics is part of almost every orthognathic plan, with braces before surgery to prepare the teeth and after it to finish the bite, but it is often priced as its own stage. At Creative Arts the orthodontic phases are planned by our specialist orthodontists and listed separately in the written plan.

Why does double-jaw surgery cost more than single-jaw surgery?

Moving both the upper and lower jaw means more planning, a longer operation, more fixation plates and screws and usually a longer hospital stay and recovery. Whether you need one jaw or both depends on where the problem lies, which the 3D assessment shows.

Does insurance cover orthognathic surgery in Dubai?

It depends on your policy. Some consider jaw surgery for functional problems with pre-approval; others exclude it or treat the hospital and orthodontic stages differently. Ask your insurer before starting, using the itemised plan and records, and keep copies of everything.

How long does jaw surgery treatment take from start to finish?

Commonly about 18 months to 3 years overall. Orthodontics before surgery often takes 12 to 18 months, the hospital stay is typically one to three nights, early recovery takes around six weeks and finishing orthodontics often 6 to 12 months. Your plan gives your own timeline. Our jaw surgery recovery guide covers the weeks after the operation.
