Quick answer

How much does sedation for dental treatment cost in Dubai?

The cost of dental sedation in Dubai depends on the level chosen, from laughing gas or a sedative tablet to IV sedation or general anaesthesia, how long the treatment takes, who gives and monitors it and where it takes place. At Creative Arts the option is agreed after a medical-history review and appears as its own line in your written plan, separate from the dental treatment.

Levels of sedation

Laughing gas, tablet, IV sedation or general anaesthesia: what changes the cost?

Each level needs different medicines, monitoring and staff, which is what moves the price. The level itself is chosen for your health and the procedure, not for cost alone.

OptionWhat it involvesWhy the cost differs
Laughing gas (nitrous oxide)Breathed through a small nose mask; wears off within minutes of stoppingSimplest to give; short recovery
Oral (tablet) sedationA sedative taken before treatment; drowsy but responsiveMore monitoring and a longer recovery than laughing gas; escort needed
IV sedationSedative given into a vein in small steps; deeply relaxed, breathing for yourselfA cannula, continuous monitoring by a qualified clinician, recovery time and an escort
General anaesthesiaFully asleep with breathing supported, given and monitored by an anaesthesiologistAn anaesthesiologist throughout, pre-assessment, fasting, longer recovery; hospital fees where surgery is in hospital

Local anaesthetic is still used at the treatment site with every option. Our guides to laughing gas and oral sedation explain those options, and which dental sedation suits you compares them all.

Cost drivers

What else changes the cost of sedation for dental work?

Beyond the level of sedation, these items explain most of the difference between two quotes.

  • Length of the appointmentOne wisdom tooth needs far less sedation time than several implants with grafting. The longer the treatment, the longer the monitoring.
  • Who gives and monitors itIV sedation is given by an appropriately qualified, licensed clinician; general anaesthesia by an anaesthesiologist, who stays with you throughout.
  • Medical preparationSome patients need tests or a letter from their own doctor first, depending on health and medicines.
  • Where it takes placeMost sedation and many general anaesthetics are given in our operating rooms; major jaw surgery and some higher-risk patients need a hospital, whose fees are set by the hospital.
  • Treatments grouped togetherCombining several procedures under one sedation can mean fewer appointments overall, where it is safe and sensible.
Common questions

Is the anaesthesiologist or sedation fee separate from the treatment?

In a Creative Arts plan, yes: the sedation or anaesthesia is listed as its own line, so you can see what the dental treatment costs and what the comfort option adds. That makes it easier to decide whether you want sedation at all, and to compare quotes from other clinics, some of which bundle it in and some of which add it later.

For surgery that takes place in a hospital, such as corrective jaw surgery, the theatre, anaesthesia and length of stay are set by the hospital and explained before you commit. For treatment in our own operating rooms, the line on your plan covers the sedation or anaesthetic itself and the monitoring and recovery that go with it.

If you mainly want help with nerves rather than help with a long or complex procedure, the cheapest effective option may simply be time: a longer first visit, a clear explanation and a stop signal. Our page on dental anxiety covers what helps before sedation is needed.

Do not choose sedation on price alone

The right level is the lightest one that lets you have your treatment safely and comfortably. What matters most is a proper medical-history review, continuous monitoring by a qualified clinician, recovery before you leave and an adult escort home. Ask any clinic who will give the sedation, who monitors you and where. Our guide on whether dental sedation is safe explains these safeguards.

Who plans your care

The surgeon and dentists who plan treatment under sedation

Your dentist or surgeon agrees the option with you after reviewing your health; sedation and anaesthesia are given and monitored by an appropriately qualified, licensed clinician.

Patient questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does IV sedation cost for dental work in Dubai?

It depends mainly on how long you need it and on the treatment it supports: sedation for one extraction costs less than for a long implant and grafting appointment. Medical preparation and recovery time also count. At Creative Arts IV sedation appears as its own line in your written plan, after a medical-history review.

Is laughing gas cheaper than IV sedation?

Usually, yes. Laughing gas is breathed through a nose mask, wears off within minutes and needs simpler monitoring and a short recovery. IV sedation needs a cannula, continuous monitoring by a qualified clinician, a longer recovery and an adult escort. The deeper relaxation of IV sedation suits longer surgery; laughing gas suits shorter, simpler visits.

Is the anaesthesiologist fee separate for dental general anaesthesia?

In a Creative Arts plan the anaesthesia is shown as its own line rather than hidden in the treatment price. For surgery in a hospital, such as corrective jaw surgery, the hospital sets its own theatre, anaesthesia and stay fees, which are explained before you commit. Ask any clinic what its quote includes.

Does insurance cover dental sedation?

It depends on your policy and on why sedation is needed. Some policies consider it when the underlying treatment is covered and sedation is clinically necessary; many exclude it for comfort alone. Ask your insurer before treatment and use the itemised plan, where sedation is a separate line, to check.

Can I have all my dental work done under one sedation?

Sometimes, and grouping treatment can mean fewer appointments overall. Whether it is sensible depends on how long the session would be, your health and how the treatments need to be sequenced; some work, such as crowns, needs more than one visit anyway. Your dentist will suggest a safe grouping in your plan.

Is dental general anaesthesia done in a hospital?

Not always. Many procedures under general anaesthesia, such as removing several wisdom teeth or extensive implant surgery, can take place in our operating rooms, and you go home the same day with an escort. Major jaw surgery, and some patients whose health raises the anaesthetic risk, need a hospital setting.

Can I have dental treatment fully asleep in Dubai?

Yes, where it suits your health and the procedure. Creative Arts has operating rooms for dental surgery and offers every level from laughing gas, tablet and IV sedation to general anaesthesia, which is given and monitored by an anaesthesiologist. The option is chosen after a medical-history review, and major jaw surgery takes place in a hospital.
