What is Porcelain (feldspathic) veneers?
Definition
Porcelain veneers are thin shells of dental ceramic bonded to the front of the teeth; feldspathic veneers are the traditional type, built up by hand from porcelain powder and fired in layers.
Porcelain is used to change the colour, shape, length or alignment of front teeth when whitening or bonding cannot do enough. Feldspathic porcelain can be made very thin, and layering lets the ceramist copy the internal colour and translucency of enamel, so it suits highly aesthetic cases with good enamel. Other porcelain veneers are pressed or milled from E.max, or have porcelain layered over a stronger core. At Creative Arts all three are made in Creative Art Dental Lab, in the same building.
Ask which porcelain is planned for each tooth and why, how much enamel will be removed, and whether you will see a mock-up before any preparation. Ask how many visits are needed and what the review appointment covers. Veneers start from AED 1,250 per tooth; the porcelain chosen and the number of teeth set the final price in your written plan.

Are feldspathic veneers and porcelain veneers the same thing?
Feldspathic veneers are one kind of porcelain veneer. In everyday use, porcelain veneer means any ceramic veneer, including E.max. Feldspathic porcelain is the original material: it is built up by hand from powder and fired in a furnace, so it can be made very thin and very lifelike, but it is more delicate than E.max until it is bonded. Your dentist chooses between them for each tooth.
