What is Dental implant?
Definition
A dental implant is a small post, usually titanium, placed in the jawbone to replace a missing tooth's root; once bone has bonded to it, it carries a crown, bridge or full-arch prosthesis.
The bonding process, osseointegration, usually takes about 3–6 months, after which the abutment and final tooth are fitted. Implants replace single teeth, several teeth or a whole arch, and do not rely on the neighbouring teeth for support. At Creative Arts in Dubai, each implant is planned from a 3D CBCT scan and placed by Dr. Firas Osman, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Khalid Saeed or Dr. Kinan Bonni; implants start from AED 4,000 per implant.
Ask whether you need a bone graft or sinus lift, how long healing will take before the final tooth, and what temporary tooth you will have meanwhile. Your written plan lists exactly what is included for your case (implant, crown, any bone graft). Ask how to clean around the implant and how often it should be reviewed.

What does osseointegration mean for a dental implant?
Osseointegration is the process in which the jawbone grows tightly onto the surface of the implant, so that it becomes firmly anchored like a tooth root. It usually takes about 3–6 months, sometimes longer after bone grafting. Until it is complete, the implant is protected from heavy biting; the final crown or bridge is fitted once the dentist confirms the implant is stable.
