Colour sits inside the veneer
Shade is built into the layers rather than painted on top, so it still reads correctly from the side, in daylight and under restaurant lighting.
The thinnest, most light-alive ceramic veneers, built layer by layer by hand rather than milled. Chosen for highly aesthetic front-tooth cases with healthy enamel, and made in the laboratory in our building.
Whether feldspathic is right for your teeth is decided at examination, from your enamel, bite and the change you want.

Feldspathic veneers are the traditional porcelain veneer: very thin shells built by hand from porcelain powder, layer by layer, and fired in a furnace. Layering lets the technician copy the internal colour and translucency of natural enamel, which is why they are often considered the most natural-looking veneers. At Creative Arts they are made in the laboratory in our Dubai building, for thin, highly aesthetic cases with good enamel.
Ranges are typical, not promises for any individual tooth.
Suitability is decided at examination; if feldspathic is wrong for a tooth, the plan names the alternative.

An E-max veneer usually starts as a solid block that is milled to shape. A feldspathic veneer starts as powder, built up in stages:
Every veneer is an individual build, which is why it depends so heavily on the person making it.
Natural enamel is not a surface colour: light enters it, scatters and comes back out. Layered porcelain behaves in a similar way.
Shade is built into the layers rather than painted on top, so it still reads correctly from the side, in daylight and under restaurant lighting.
The biting edge can be made slightly translucent and the body more opaque, the way a young upper incisor looks.
Subtle features of the neighbouring teeth, such as a lighter band or a warmer neck, can be reproduced within the porcelain.
Because it can be so thin, a feldspathic veneer lets some of the natural tooth show through, which helps it blend rather than cover.
Feldspathic porcelain leaves the technician very little margin for error. Each firing shrinks the build, so the final shape has to be predicted and corrected over several bakes. Shade is decided layer by layer and cannot be changed afterwards without rebuilding. At a few tenths of a millimetre, a thin edge that is slightly too thin is fragile, and one that is slightly too thick looks bulky.
The clinical side is equally exacting. A thin feldspathic veneer is only as strong as its bond, and the most reliable bond is to enamel, so preparation has to stay within enamel and the tooth has to be kept completely dry during bonding. That is why these veneers are planned from a digital smile design and mock-up before any preparation, so reduction is limited to what the design actually needs.
Three materials with three different jobs. Many smiles use more than one, chosen tooth by tooth.
| Feldspathic porcelain | E-max (lithium disilicate) | Composite | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How it is made | Layered by hand and fired in stages | Milled or pressed, then characterised and glazed | Sculpted directly on the tooth in the chair |
| Appearance | The most individual depth and translucency | Highly natural; very consistent | Good at first; surface dulls over time |
| Thickness | Can be the thinnest | Thin, usually slightly thicker than feldspathic | Variable; often no preparation |
| Strength | Lowest of the ceramics; relies on the enamel bond | Several times stronger than feldspathic | Lowest overall, but easy to repair |
| Grinders and heavy bites | Usually not advised | Suitable with a night guard | Chips more readily |
| Typical service life | Often 10–15 years or more on enamel | Often 10–15 years or more | Around 3–5 years before refreshing |
Ranges are typical figures, not promises. Bite, grinding, gum health and hygiene affect longevity more than the material. For milled lithium disilicate see E-max veneers; for the directly placed option see composite bonding.
Feldspathic is chosen when its strengths matter and its limits do not.

Layered porcelain is decided by eye as much as by data. Creative Art Dental Lab is a separate laboratory in the same building as the clinic, so the technician can see your teeth in person, under the same light as your dentist, before building the layers. Designs start digitally from your scan; the porcelain itself is built and fired by hand. Typical lab turnaround is 3–5 working days depending on complexity.
Veneers for Creative Arts patients are designed and made at Creative Art Dental Lab, in the same building as the clinic. The laboratory is part of Creative Art Group, whose CEO, Basem Tobaji, is a dental technician and smile design expert with about 30 years in the dental field. Your dentist plans and fits the veneers; the laboratory makes them.
Hand-layered porcelain is the most labour-intensive veneer to make, but the total still depends mainly on your case. The veneers cost guide explains how to compare quotes.
A pricier ceramic is not automatically a better one. On a tooth with thin enamel, a heavy bite or a dark colour to hide, E-max or a crown will usually outlast feldspathic.
Planned by the dentist who will bond them, with the technician involved from the shade stage.
Before bonding, yes: a thin feldspathic veneer can break in the hand. Once bonded to enamel, the tooth and veneer act as one unit and it becomes far more robust. It is still less strong than lithium disilicate, which is why feldspathic is avoided for heavy grinders, edge-to-edge bites and teeth with little enamel left.
They can, particularly for a single tooth that must match its neighbour, because the colour is built inside the porcelain layer by layer. A well-characterised E-max veneer also looks very natural, and for most smiles the difference is smaller than marketing suggests. The design, shape and surface texture matter as much as the material.
Usually a little. Because feldspathic can be made very thin, preparation is typically minimal and kept within enamel, and on small or set-back teeth sometimes none is needed. The mock-up shows where the new shape needs space, so enamel is only reduced where the design requires it.
Heavy grinding or clenching is one of the main reasons to choose a stronger ceramic instead. If you grind lightly and the bite is otherwise balanced, feldspathic may still be possible with a custom night guard worn every night. The dentist looks for wear facets, cracks and flattened edges at examination before advising.
Each veneer is built by hand in layers and fired several times, with corrections between firings as the porcelain shrinks, and matching one tooth to a natural neighbour may need an extra shade check. Typical laboratory turnaround is 3 to 5 working days depending on complexity; design, mock-up and preparation visits come before that.
A very small chip can sometimes be polished or repaired with composite resin. Because feldspathic veneers are thin and layered, a larger fracture usually means making a new veneer so the colour and edge are correct. Our veneer replacement page explains how an old veneer is removed and the tooth checked.
