The examination
A clean without a dentist checking gums, decay and fillings can remove stain while a problem underneath goes unnoticed.
Two clinics can both say “cleaning” and mean very different appointments. What a professional clean should include, what changes the figure, and how to compare offers.
If you need more than a routine clean, you receive a written, itemised plan before anything extra is done.
The cost of a teeth cleaning in Dubai depends on what the appointment actually includes: a basic scale and polish, a full Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) clean, or deep cleaning below the gums for gum disease. Tartar build-up, a check-up and X-rays, and implants or braces also change it. Creative Arts does not publish a single figure; the clinic explains what your clean includes and puts anything extra in a written, itemised plan first.
“Cleaning” is used for at least three different appointments. A basic scale and polish removes visible tartar and finishes with polishing paste. A Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) clean adds steps: the plaque is stained so nothing is missed, removed with air-polishing, and tartar is scaled only where it remains. Deep cleaning treats gum disease, reaching root surfaces inside gum pockets, often under local anaesthetic.
Published prices in Dubai vary widely mainly because they describe different appointments with different inclusions. A low headline figure is usually a real price for a narrower service. Our GBT teeth cleaning page sets out every step of the clean we provide.
Most of these depend on what is found in your mouth, not on a menu.
Relative terms only, because the figure depends on your mouth.
| Basic scale and polish | GBT clean | Deep cleaning | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it removes | Tartar and plaque above the gum, then paste polish | Disclosed plaque, stain and tartar, above and just below the gum | Tartar and bacteria on roots inside gum pockets |
| Who it suits | Healthy gums, light build-up | Most patients, including implants, braces and veneers | Gum disease with measured pockets |
| Anaesthetic | Not usually | Not usually | Local anaesthetic is common |
| Visits | One | One; heavy build-up may need two | Often more than one, then a re-check |
| Relative cost | Lowest | Moderate | Higher; charged as gum treatment |
For the clinical differences between the methods, see GBT vs a traditional scale and polish.
A cheap offer is not automatically a poor one. Check which of these it covers.

Polishing visible surfaces makes teeth look clean. Tartar just under the gum, where gum disease starts, needs more time.
A fixed short slot suits light build-up. Heavy tartar gets either a rushed clean or an extra charge.
Whitening is a separate treatment. Gums should be checked and teeth cleaned first; see cleaning vs whitening.
Ask every clinic the same questions, including this one.
Returning at the interval set for you usually means short, routine cleans. Leaving it until tartar and inflammation build up often means a longer clean, or deep cleaning and closer follow-up. See how often to have your teeth cleaned.
The dentist who examines your gums explains what your clean includes and whether anything more is needed.
Mostly because the word covers different appointments. Some prices are for a short scale and polish, some for a full Guided Biofilm Therapy clean with disclosing and a final check, and some include an examination and X-rays while others do not. Ask what is included and how long the appointment is before comparing figures.
It involves more steps than a basic scale and polish: disclosing the plaque, air-polishing, scaling only where tartar remains and a final check, so it is not always priced the same. You are paying for a clean that shows what was missed and uses less scraping, which suits implants, braces, veneers and sensitive teeth.
Yes. Deep cleaning, or scaling and root planing, is treatment for gum disease rather than a routine clean. It is usually done under local anaesthetic, often over more than one visit, and followed by a re-check of the gum pockets. It should only be recommended after pocket charting and X-rays show it is needed.
It depends on the clinic and on whether you need them. X-rays are taken for a clinical reason, such as checking bone levels or looking for decay between teeth, not automatically at every clean. Ask whether they are included or charged separately, and why they are recommended.
It can. Heavy tartar and stain from smoking, shisha, tea or coffee take longer to remove, and very heavy build-up is sometimes better cleaned over two appointments. Cleaning at the right interval keeps each appointment shorter.
No. A professional clean removes surface stain and can make teeth look brighter, but it does not change the natural colour of the tooth. Whitening is a separate treatment, usually done after a clean once the gums are healthy, and it does not change crowns, veneers or fillings.
