Composite veneers are layers of tooth-coloured resin bonded over the whole visible surface of a tooth and sculpted by hand to change its shape, length or colour.
Composite veneers are built directly on the teeth by the dentist, usually with little or no enamel removal, and are typically finished in one or two treatment visits. They suit people who want a reversible or lower-commitment change, younger patients, and small corrections such as chips, gaps or uneven edges. They can be repaired in the chair, but resin stains and loses its shine sooner than ceramic, so polishing and occasional repairs are part of the plan.
Ask how long composite is likely to stay bright with your habits, such as coffee, tea or smoking, and how often it will need polishing. Both are built by hand in the chair, usually with little or no drilling, and both can be polished or repaired later.
