What is Ceramist / dental lab?
Definition
A dental ceramist is the dental-lab professional who designs, builds, layers and finishes ceramic restorations such as veneers, crowns and bridges to a dentist's prescription.
The dentist examines, prepares the teeth and takes the scan; the ceramist turns that information into the restoration, building colour and translucency in thin layers of porcelain or finishing milled E.max and zirconia. At Creative Arts in Dubai, this work is done at Creative Art Dental Lab, a separate laboratory in the same building, operating for 27 years and open Monday to Saturday; it does not treat patients.
Ask where your veneers or crowns will be made and whether the ceramist can see your teeth and your mock-up in person. Ask which ceramics the lab makes and how long the lab stage takes, typically 3–5 working days depending on complexity. Ask how adjustments are handled at try-in.
Questions about Ceramist / dental lab
Why does it matter if the dental lab is in the same building as the clinic?
When the lab is close, the ceramist can see your teeth, gums and skin tone in person, under the same light as the dentist, rather than relying only on photos and a written shade note. Small questions about shape or colour can be answered at the chair, and try-in adjustments can be discussed directly. It shortens communication; it does not make crowns or veneers same-day.
