Quick answer

What is restorative dentistry?

Restorative dentistry repairs or replaces damaged and missing teeth so they work and look natural again: fillings, crowns, bridges, implant restorations, root canal treatment and, for many teeth at once, full mouth rehabilitation. At Creative Arts in Dubai, the dentist chooses the smallest repair that will last, and ceramic crowns and bridges are made at Creative Art Dental Lab, a separate laboratory in the same building.

Which restoration do I need?

The rule is to remove as little healthy tooth as the problem allows. This is how dentists usually decide; your examination and X-rays settle it.

Crown and bridge work across an arch on a working model
From dentist to dental lab

Why our crowns and bridges are made in the same building

Creative Art Dental Lab is a separate laboratory in our building, with 27 years of operation. It designs restorations digitally, mills them in zirconia or E-max and finishes them by hand. For clinic patients the technician can see your teeth in person under the same light as your dentist, so shade and shape are matched to your neighbouring teeth rather than to a photograph. Small adjustments at try-in are made in-house; the restoration itself typically takes 3–5 working days, depending on complexity.

  1. 1Assessment — examination, X-rays and, where needed, a CBCT scan
  2. 2Preparation & scan — the tooth is shaped and scanned; a temporary restoration protects it
  3. 3Design & milling — the crown or bridge is designed digitally and milled from ceramic
  4. 4Shade & hand finishing — colour, surface texture and edges finished by the technician
  5. 5Fit & bite check — fit, contacts and bite checked, then the restoration is cemented or bonded

What happens from first visit to finished restoration

Most single crowns and bridges need two main visits a few working days apart. Larger plans follow the same principle in stages.

  1. Examination

The tooth, its root, the gum around it and your bite are checked. If something smaller would do, you are told here.

    Visit 1
  2. Written plan

The recommended option, alternatives, number of visits and itemised cost, before any tooth is prepared.

    Before treatment
  3. Treat what comes first

Decay, infection or gum problems are dealt with before a crown or bridge is made over them.

    If needed
  4. Preparation and scan

Under local anaesthetic the tooth is shaped and scanned, and a temporary restoration is fitted.

  5. Fit and review

The finished restoration is tried in, adjusted, fitted, and checked again at a review.

Restorative or cosmetic dentistry?

Restorative treatment fixes something that is damaged or missing; cosmetic dentistry changes how healthy teeth look. They often overlap — a crown on a front tooth must look right, and veneers must not overload the bite — so both are planned by the same team and the same laboratory.

Who treats you

Dentists who plan and fit crowns, bridges and rebuilds

Restorative cases are planned by the dentist who carries them out. Implant surgery is done by Dr. Khalid Saeed and Dr. Kinan Bonni; Dr. Marina Antoniuk's restorative and microscope work often covers teeth that need a crown after root canal treatment.

Patient questions

Frequently asked questions

How do I know whether I need a filling, a crown or a root canal?

It depends on how much tooth is left and whether the nerve is healthy. A filling suits a strong tooth with limited damage; a crown holds together a tooth that is cracked, heavily filled or root-treated; a root canal is needed when the nerve is inflamed or infected. An examination with X-rays decides, and the plan always includes the smallest option that will last.

Do you make crowns and bridges yourselves?

They are made at Creative Art Dental Lab, a separate laboratory in the same building as the clinic. It designs restorations digitally, mills them in zirconia or E-max and finishes them by hand. For clinic patients the technician can see the teeth in person for shade matching, and small adjustments are made in-house.

Can a crown be made in a single visit?

No. We do not mill crowns chairside during one appointment. Your crown is designed and made in the laboratory, which typically takes 3–5 working days depending on complexity, and a temporary crown protects the tooth in between. That time is used for shade matching and hand finishing.

Can you replace an old crown or bridge?

Yes. Old crowns and bridges are replaced when there is decay at the edge, a failing margin, a dark line at the gum, chipped ceramic or a poor fit. The tooth underneath is checked once the old restoration is removed, and the plan explains what happens if it needs more treatment than expected.

Will I get a price before treatment starts?

Yes. After the examination you receive a written plan covering the steps, timeline, cost and alternatives before you commit. Prices depend on the material, the tooth and what needs doing first, so the crown cost guide explains each variable.

Can I book a restorative consultation on WhatsApp?

Yes. Use the WhatsApp button on this page to tell us what is wrong with the tooth or what you would like to change, and the clinic replies within opening hours, 10:00–20:00 every day, with an appointment time. You can also book online or call +971 4 342 4444.

Is restorative treatment painful?

Fillings, crown preparation and root canal treatment are carried out under local anaesthetic. Some tenderness afterwards is common and usually managed with over-the-counter pain relief. If you are anxious about treatment, tell us at the assessment so we can go at your pace and discuss sedation.
