Published with the patient’s consent. In the photo, the top half shows the teeth before treatment and the bottom half after. Every mouth is different: your own plan follows an examination.
Before: the situation
The lower front teeth, from canine to canine, have biting edges worn flat into an uneven line. They are yellowish, more so near the gum on the canines, where one canine shows a stained, notched area at the gum line. Small dark spaces show near the gum between some of the incisors.
What was wrong, and why it matters
Lower front teeth wear when they work against the upper teeth under heavy load, for example with grinding or a bite in which the front teeth take too much of the pressure. As the edges flatten, the teeth shorten, the inner, yellower layer of the tooth shows through, and the edges become sharp and prone to chipping.
Wear at the lower front is usually a sign about the whole bite, not only these teeth. Restoring them without understanding the load that wore them down risks the new edges wearing or breaking the same way.
The solution
The after photo shows the lower front teeth restored with new ceramic restorations in one light, even shade, with rounded shapes and edges at a consistent height. The small dark spaces near the gum are no longer visible, and the gum around the teeth looks healthy.
Because wear like this reflects how the jaws meet, Dr. Marina's approach puts the functional assessment first: the bite, the jaw joints and the chewing muscles are examined, with axiography and condylography where indicated, before the new length and shape of the lower teeth is decided. Only then are the restorations designed to fit the bite as well as the smile.
How a case like this is planned and carried out
Examination and photographs of the worn lower teeth
Functional assessment of bite, TMJ and chewing muscles, with axiography and condylography where indicated
Planning the new length and shape against the upper teeth
Restorations made with the ceramist in the dental lab in the same building
Bite check in closing and in jaw movements after fitting
After: the result
The lower front teeth have even, rounded shapes, a level edge line and one light shade. The notched, stained area at the gum and the dark spaces between the incisors are no longer visible.

In Dr. Marina Antoniuk’s words
Dr. Marina AntoniukMy role is to bring together aesthetics, biology, function, and modern technology into an individualized, comprehensive treatment plan.
Lower front teeth are rarely the centre of a smile, so a case like this one is mostly about function: rebuilding worn edges so the bite works well again.

Questions about this kind of case
What should be checked in the bite before worn lower front teeth are restored?
Lower front teeth wear flat under heavy load, often from grinding or a bite in which the front teeth carry too much pressure. Before restoring them, the bite, the jaw joints and the chewing muscles should be checked. At Creative Arts in Dubai, Dr. Marina Antoniuk uses a functional assessment, with axiography and condylography where indicated, so the new edges are planned for the forces they will meet.
Can worn lower front teeth be restored to look natural?
Yes. Lower teeth show more when speaking than many people expect, so shape and shade matter. At Creative Arts in Dubai, Dr. Marina Antoniuk plans the new length and edges against the upper teeth, and the restorations are made with the ceramist in the dental lab in the same building. In this case the worn lower teeth were restored to even, rounded shapes in one light shade.
