What is Condylography?
Definition
Condylography is a recording of the path the condyle, the rounded upper end of the lower jaw, travels inside the jaw joint during jaw movements.
Condylography looks closely at how each joint moves, and whether the two sides move evenly and smoothly, which can help explain clicking, deviation of the jaw or uneven wear. It is used with axiography and the clinical examination in functional diagnostics of the TMJ, chewing muscles and bite, and when planning a new bite for extensive restorative work. Condylography is available at Creative Arts in Dubai.
Ask what the condylography tracing shows for each joint and how it relates to your symptoms or your bite. Ask whether the results change the treatment order, for example whether bite therapy should come before crowns or veneers.
Questions about Condylography
What is the difference between axiography and condylography?
They are closely related recordings of jaw movement. Axiography records how the jaw joint moves as a whole when you open, close and move the jaw forward and sideways. Condylography focuses on the path that the condyle of the lower jaw travels inside each joint. Together with an examination of the muscles and bite, they help the dentist plan treatment that fits how your jaw works.
