Quick answer

How much does an emergency dentist cost in Dubai?

Emergency dentist cost in Dubai depends on what the visit involves. The first part is an urgent examination, usually with an X-ray of the problem tooth. What follows changes the total: a temporary filling, starting a root canal to relieve the nerve, an extraction or re-cementing a crown. At Creative Arts, open daily 10:00–20:00, the dentist explains the cause, the options and their cost before any treatment starts.

The first visit

What does an emergency dentist visit in Dubai usually cover?

An urgent visit is built around one problem. These are its parts, and each can appear separately on a bill.

01

Urgent examination

What happened, when the pain started, what makes it worse, your medicines, and a look at the tooth, gum and bite. Simple tests such as cold or gentle tapping help find which tooth is the source.

02

An X-ray of the area

Usually one small periapical X-ray to see the root and bone. A panoramic view is added only if several teeth or a wisdom tooth are involved. See dental X-ray cost.

03

A diagnosis in plain words

Decay near the nerve, an abscess, a cracked tooth, gum infection or a lost restoration each lead to different treatment and cost.

04

Relief now, plan for later

Some problems are fully treated in one visit. Others get a first step today, such as a dressing or a temporary filling, and the rest is planned and costed.

Same-visit treatment

What does same-visit treatment add to the emergency dentist cost?

The examination is only the start. What changes the total most is whether treatment is started in the same appointment, which depends on the problem and the time available.

ProblemTypical first stepWhat may followEffect on the cost
Toothache from deep decayA temporary filling, or opening the tooth to relieve an inflamed nerveA permanent filling, or completing root canal treatment and a crownAdds a treatment item
Abscess or swollen gumRelieving pressure and starting a root canal, or extraction if the tooth cannot be savedCompleting root canal treatment, or replacing the toothAdds a treatment item; medicine only if the dentist judges it necessary
Broken tooth or lost fillingSmoothing sharp edges and a temporary or bonded repairA filling or crown, depending on what is leftSmall to moderate
Crown or bridge came offRe-cementing it, if crown and tooth are both soundA new crown if either is damagedUsually smaller
Knocked-out adult toothPutting the tooth back and splinting itSplint removal, reviews, often root canal treatmentAdds a splint and follow-up visits

Root canal and extraction costs are explained on our root canal cost and tooth extraction cost pages. Our guide to dental costs in Dubai covers the rest.

Why fees differ

Why do emergency dental fees differ from routine ones?

A routine check-up looks for problems; an urgent visit has to find the cause of one problem quickly, often with tests and an X-ray, and then do something about it in the same sitting. That extra diagnosis and same-day treatment is the main reason an urgent visit costs more than a check-up.

The second reason is that emergency care often happens in two steps. A dressing or temporary filling relieves pain today, and the definitive treatment follows later. Two steps can mean two items, and a good dentist tells you that before starting. Some clinics also price unscheduled appointments differently from booked ones, so ask when you call. At Creative Arts the fee for the urgent examination is confirmed when you call or message, and anything beyond it is explained before it starts.

Where you are seen matters too. Creative Arts is open daily from 10:00 to 20:00 and is not a 24-hour clinic. A hospital emergency department can manage severe pain, spreading infection and injuries at night, but it usually cannot carry out dental treatment, so you may still need a dentist the next day. Our guide to a dental emergency at night in Dubai explains what to do until morning, and visitors can read the tourist dental emergency guide.

Keeping it fair

How to avoid paying more than you need for urgent dental care

Most of these cost nothing and save either an extra image, an extra visit or a bigger treatment later.

  • Call or message firstA short description and a photo help us tell you how soon you can be seen and whether you need anything before you arrive. If you were thinking of just turning up, see our walk-in dentist page.
  • Bring earlier X-raysRecent images from another clinic can sometimes replace a new one.
  • Do not wait for swellingA tooth that is treated while the nerve is inflamed may still be saved; an abscess that is left can mean extraction.
  • Ask what is temporaryKnow whether today's step is the final repair or a first step, and what the full treatment will cost.
  • Check your insuranceCover for urgent treatment depends on your policy. Ask your insurer, and ask us for an itemised record you can submit.

When not to wait for a dentist

Go to a hospital emergency department straight away for facial swelling with fever, difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling spreading towards the eye or neck, bleeding you cannot stop, or a head or face injury. In the UAE the ambulance number is 998. For everything else during opening hours, call +971 4 342 4444 or see our emergency dentist page.

Patient questions

Frequently asked questions

How much is an emergency dental visit in Dubai?

It depends on what is needed. The urgent examination, usually with one X-ray, is the base. Treatment started in the same visit, such as a temporary filling, opening the tooth to relieve the nerve or an extraction, adds to it. Ask for the examination fee when you call, and ask for the cost of any treatment before it starts.

Does the emergency dentist fee include the X-ray and pain relief?

Not always, so ask. Many clinics list the examination, the X-ray and any treatment separately. Pain relief in dentistry usually means treating the cause, for example dressing the nerve or draining an abscess, which is a treatment item rather than part of the examination. Medicines are prescribed only when the dentist judges them necessary.

What does a same-visit extraction or temporary filling add to the cost?

Each is a separate treatment item on top of the urgent examination. A temporary filling usually costs less than a permanent one but has to be replaced later. A simple extraction is priced differently from a surgical one. Our tooth extraction cost page explains what changes that price.

Why do emergency dental fees differ from a routine appointment?

An urgent visit has to find the cause of a specific problem quickly, often with tests and an X-ray, and usually starts treatment in the same sitting. Emergency care is also often done in two steps, a temporary measure today and definitive treatment later. Some clinics also price unscheduled appointments differently, so ask when you call.

Does insurance cover an emergency dentist in Dubai?

It depends entirely on your policy. Some policies cover urgent examination and pain relief but not every follow-up treatment. Check with your insurer before your visit if you can, and ask the clinic for an itemised record of what was done. Our guide to dental insurance in Dubai lists the questions worth asking.

Can I see an emergency dentist in Dubai after 20:00?

Creative Arts is open daily from 10:00 to 20:00 and is not a 24-hour clinic. After hours, most toothaches and broken teeth can be managed at home until morning. Facial swelling with fever, difficulty breathing or swallowing, uncontrolled bleeding or a face injury need a hospital emergency department straight away.

Will I need to come back after an emergency dental visit?

Often, yes. The first visit relieves pain and controls the problem; a root canal, a permanent filling, a crown or a replacement for an extracted tooth usually needs its own appointment. Your dentist explains what is temporary, what remains, and its cost, so the next steps are clear before you leave.
