Which tooth, and how many canals?
A price for a front tooth tells you little about a molar or a retreatment.
The price of a root canal depends on which tooth it is, how many canals it has, whether it was treated before and how it will be restored afterwards. Here is what each of those means for your quote.
The fee is confirmed after examination and radiographs, in writing, including the restoration the tooth needs.
Root canal cost depends mainly on the tooth: a single-canal front tooth is simpler than a molar with three or four canals, and retreating a previously filled tooth is more complex again. The crown or core that protects the tooth afterwards is usually a separate item. At Creative Arts you receive a written plan listing the root canal and the restoration before treatment starts.
Published root canal prices in Dubai vary widely, and many headline figures refer to the simplest tooth. These are the variables that move the fee.
The number and shape of the canals decide how much work the tooth needs. These are typical patterns; individual teeth vary.
| Tooth | Typical canals | Relative complexity | Restoration usually needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Front tooth (incisor, canine) | Usually one | Lower | Often a filling; a crown if heavily broken down |
| Premolar | One or two | Moderate | Usually a crown |
| Molar | Three or four, sometimes more | Higher | A crown in most cases |
| Retreatment (any tooth) | As original, plus any missed canal | Highest | New restoration, as the old one is usually removed |
For how treatment works step by step, see root canal treatment and our root canal treatment guide.

Usually not, and that is where many quotes differ. A root-treated tooth has lost its blood supply and part of its structure, so it is more brittle. A crown or cusp-covering restoration holds the remaining walls together; back teeth left without one are at real risk of splitting, and a vertical fracture generally cannot be saved.
Crowns for our patients are made in the laboratory in the same building. See dental crowns for materials, and the crown cost guide for what sets that price.
Extraction can look like the cheaper option on the day. Over the longer term, replacing the gap is usually what decides the total.
| Root canal + crown | Extraction + implant | Extraction only | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost on the day | Moderate | Low for the extraction; implant later | Lowest |
| Total cost over time | Usually the lowest way to keep a full set of teeth | Usually higher: implant, crown and sometimes bone grafting | Low at first; the gap may cost more later |
| Number of stages | One or two visits, then the crown | Extraction, healing of typically 3–6 months, implant, crown | One |
| Keeps your own tooth | Yes | No | No |
| Effect on neighbours | None | None once restored | Neighbouring teeth can drift or over-erupt |
| When it is the right choice | The tooth is restorable and the gum and bone are healthy | Vertical fracture, too little tooth left or severe bone loss | Rarely, for a tooth that is not needed for chewing or appearance |

Two quotes for the same tooth can describe very different treatments. Ask each clinic these questions.
A price for a front tooth tells you little about a molar or a retreatment.
Isolating the tooth from saliva is one of the most important factors in a root canal succeeding. We use one on every case.
Missed canals are a common reason root canals fail. Ask whether a microscope and CBCT are used where needed.
The crown or core is often the larger part of the total. Compare the root canal and the restoration together.
Root canal treatment and retreatment at Creative Arts are carried out by dentists who work with a dental microscope.
Contact the clinic during opening hours (10:00–20:00 daily) and describe your symptoms; see urgent dental care for what to do meanwhile. If you have facial swelling with difficulty breathing or swallowing, go to a hospital emergency department immediately.
Molars usually have three or four canals, often narrow or curved, and sit at the back of the mouth where access is harder. Each canal has to be located, cleaned, shaped and sealed, so the treatment takes longer and needs more instruments and imaging. Front teeth usually have a single, straighter canal.
Usually not. The root canal treats the inside of the tooth; the crown or other restoration protects what is left. Most back teeth need a crown afterwards. Your written plan lists both, so you can see the total cost of keeping the tooth rather than only the first stage.
Retreatment is generally more involved, so it typically costs more than a first root canal on the same tooth. The old filling material has to be removed, any missed canal found and the system re-cleaned. We assess with imaging first, because the reason for failure decides whether retreatment, surgery or extraction is the sensible option.
On the day, yes. But a missing back tooth usually needs replacing to stop neighbouring teeth drifting, and an implant or bridge generally costs more than a root canal and crown. Where a tooth is restorable, saving it is usually the lower-cost route over time. Where it is not, we will say so.
Usually one or two. Many teeth are completed in a single visit. Severely infected teeth may be treated over two visits with medication placed between them. The crown is fitted afterwards, once the tooth has settled, and needs its own appointments.
It is carried out under local anaesthetic. The severe pain people associate with root canals is usually the infected tooth before treatment. Some tenderness on biting for a few days afterwards is normal and is usually managed with over-the-counter pain relief.
Only a range, because the tooth, the number of canals and the restoration needed are not known until it is examined and X-rayed. After the assessment you receive a written plan with the root canal, the restoration and any alternatives listed.
