Records and diagnosis
Scans, photographs and radiographs are sometimes charged separately from the treatment fee.
Two quotes for straightening the same teeth can differ widely because they cover different things. This guide explains what drives the fee and what a complete orthodontic quote should list.
A price is given after diagnosis, in writing, with the alternatives and what is included.
There is no single price, because orthodontic fees depend on how complex the movement is, how long treatment lasts, which appliance is used, whether refinements and auxiliaries are needed, and how retention is handled. At Creative Arts a specialist orthodontist diagnoses the case first, then gives a written plan that lists the fee and everything it covers, including retainers.
Published prices for braces and aligners in Dubai vary widely. Most of the difference comes from these variables, not from the brackets or trays themselves.
This compares how each appliance is typically priced, not which is better. The right appliance is decided by the diagnosis.
| Fixed braces | Invisalign clear aligners | |
|---|---|---|
| Relative fee | Generally lower | Generally higher |
| Main cost driver | Chair time for adjustments over the treatment | Number of aligner stages and refinements |
| Refinements | Adjustments are part of normal treatment | Often needed; check whether included |
| Unplanned costs | Repairs for broken brackets or wires | Replacement aligners if lost or damaged |
| Risk of longer treatment | Missed appointments, breakages | Wearing aligners fewer hours than prescribed |
| Retention | Needed after both | Needed after both |
See fixed braces and our Invisalign vs braces guide for the clinical differences.
An advertised starting figure normally describes the simplest case. Before comparing, check whether each quote covers these items.
Scans, photographs and radiographs are sometimes charged separately from the treatment fee.
An aligner price for a set number of trays may not include the additional series many cases need to finish.
Some quotes end when the braces come off. Ask what retainer is planned, whether it is included and what a replacement costs.
Elastics, expanders, anchorage screws, extractions or reshaping between teeth may be listed separately or not at all.
Ask who reviews your progress. Diagnosis and monitoring by a specialist orthodontist is part of what you are paying for.
A fee quoted before examination can only be a guess, so the price comes after diagnosis.
Examination of teeth, bite, gums and jaw function, with photographs, a digital scan and radiographs where indicated.
First visitThe orthodontist explains whether the problem is dental, skeletal or both, and which appliances could treat it.
PlanningThe written plan lists the recommended appliance, duration, auxiliaries, refinements, retainers and the fee, with alternatives.
Before you commitTeeth should only be moved through healthy gum and bone. If the assessment finds gum disease or decay, it is treated before orthodontics starts, and that treatment appears as its own item. See gum treatment.
Orthodontic plans at Creative Arts are prepared by our specialist orthodontists, who also carry out the treatment and reviews.
Generally yes, because each aligner is manufactured for your teeth and many cases need refinement aligners. Braces costs are driven more by adjustment visits over the treatment. For a mild case, the difference may be smaller than expected; for complex cases, braces may also be the more predictable option. The diagnosis decides which appliance is recommended.
Quotes often cover different things. One may include records, refinements, retainers and reviews; another may cover only the appliance for the simplest case. Complexity, duration and who supervises the treatment also differ. Comparing itemised written plans is the only fair way to compare prices.
In our written plans, the planned retainers and the review period after treatment are listed. Retention is long-term, so also ask what replacing a lost or damaged retainer would involve later. A quote that does not mention retainers is incomplete.
Only a rough idea. The fee depends on the diagnosis, including whether the problem is dental or skeletal and whether extractions or auxiliaries are needed. After the assessment you receive a written, itemised plan with alternatives, so you can decide with the full picture.
Auxiliaries are devices used alongside braces or aligners when a movement needs extra support: elastics between the jaws, expanders to widen an arch, or temporary anchorage devices, which are small temporary screws. They are only used when the case needs them, and your plan says so in advance.
Sometimes. If teeth have moved after earlier orthodontics, a limited course may be enough rather than full re-treatment. The orthodontist assesses what has shifted and whether a shorter plan can achieve your goal. Bring any records from the earlier treatment you still have.
