Published with the patient’s consent. In the photo, the top half shows the teeth before treatment and the bottom half after. Every mouth is different: your own plan follows an examination.
Before: the situation
The upper front teeth look opaque and flat in colour, with brownish staining at the gum margins between the central and lateral incisors. Towards the sides, the teeth look narrower, greyer and set further back, and on one side they are tilted and uneven, so dark spaces show at the corners of the smile. The biting edges form an almost straight line.
What was wrong, and why it matters
A smile is read across its full width, not only at the two front teeth. When the side teeth are narrow, tilted or set back, dark spaces appear at the corners and the smile looks narrower and older than it is. Staining at the gum margins is also a sign that the edges of the teeth or old work there trap plaque.
A flat biting line and uneven side teeth also matter for function: they change how the teeth guide the jaw when chewing and moving sideways. Treating only the front teeth would leave the corners unchanged and the bite unplanned.
The solution
The after photo shows the upper teeth restored from one corner of the smile to the other with new ceramic restorations in one bright, even shade. The side teeth now fill the corners, the dark spaces are gone, and the biting edges follow a gentle curve.
In Dr. Marina's approach a full-width change like this is planned as one design, with facial proportions and the lip line as the frame. Before any restoration is made, the bite, the jaw joints and the chewing muscles are assessed, so that the new side teeth also work correctly when the jaw moves.
How a case like this is planned and carried out
Full examination with facial and intraoral photographs and a digital scan
Bite, TMJ and chewing-muscle assessment, with axiography and condylography where indicated
Digital smile design across the full smile width, with a mock-up
Staged treatment from preparation to fitting
Restorations made with the ceramist in the dental lab in the same building
Bite review after fitting
After: the result
The upper teeth form a continuous, bright arch that fills the smile to the corners. The staining at the gum margins is no longer visible, and the biting edges now follow a soft curve rather than a flat line.

In Dr. Marina Antoniuk’s words
Dr. Marina AntoniukOur goal is not simply to achieve straight teeth, but to create a beautiful smile that harmoniously complements the patient’s face.
Rebuilding the side teeth as well as the front ones is what lets the smile fill the face from corner to corner here.

Questions about this kind of case
Why do dark spaces show at the corners of a smile, and can they be filled?
Dark corners usually appear when the side teeth are narrow, tilted or set back from the front ones. They can often be filled by planning the side teeth into the smile design, not just the front six. Dr. Marina Antoniuk at Creative Arts in Dubai checks the bite and jaw function first, then designs the full width of the smile and shows it as a mock-up before treatment.
How many teeth are included in a smile makeover?
It depends on how wide the smile is and what each tooth needs, not on a fixed number. At Creative Arts in Dubai, Dr. Marina Antoniuk counts the teeth that show when the patient smiles, checks which ones are worn, tilted or discoloured, and assesses the bite. The written plan then lists each tooth and why it is included, so the patient can see the reasoning.
