Published with the patient’s consent. In the photo, the top half shows the teeth before treatment and the bottom half after. Every mouth is different: your own plan follows an examination.
Before: the situation
The upper teeth are crowded: the lateral incisors and canines are rotated and overlap, and one canine stands out of the line. Small dark triangular spaces show beside the central incisors near their edges. The side teeth on one side overlap each other, and the biting edges form an uneven line.
What was wrong, and why it matters
Crowded and rotated teeth are harder to clean where they overlap, and the uneven edges mean some teeth take more load than others when the jaw moves. A canine that stands out of line can change how the jaw is guided sideways.
The question in a case like this is how much should be corrected by moving teeth and how much by reshaping them. Restoring crowded teeth without that analysis can mean removing more tooth structure than necessary to make them look straight.
The solution
The after photo shows the upper teeth in a smooth, continuous line, with the gaps beside the central incisors closed and the rotated teeth no longer standing out. The front teeth are broader and more even, and the shade has stayed natural rather than very white.
This is the kind of case where Dr. Marina's integrated orthodontic and prosthodontic planning matters: tooth position, tooth shape and the bite are analysed together before deciding the route, so that natural tooth structure is preserved wherever clinically appropriate. Occlusal principles in smile design were the subject of the course she attended in Dubai in February 2025 with Prof. Marcelo Calamita.
How a case like this is planned and carried out
Examination, facial and intraoral photographs and a digital scan
Analysis of crowding, tooth position and the bite
Deciding between moving teeth, reshaping them or a combination
Digital smile design and a mock-up of the planned line
Restorations made with the ceramist in the dental lab in the same building
Bite review of the new tooth line
After: the result
The upper teeth form one smooth, even line, with the small gaps closed and the canine no longer out of line. The front teeth are in proportion, and the overall shade is natural.

In Dr. Marina Antoniuk’s words
Dr. Marina AntoniukWe place particular emphasis on integrated orthodontic and prosthodontic treatment planning.
With crowded, rotated teeth, deciding what to correct by position and what by shape is exactly where that integrated planning applies.

Questions about this kind of case
Why are crowded, overlapping upper teeth harder to keep clean?
Where teeth overlap, the brush and floss cannot reach every surface, so plaque and stain collect in the corners and the gum there becomes inflamed more easily. Bringing the teeth into a smooth line, by moving them, reshaping them or both, makes those surfaces reachable again. At Creative Arts in Dubai, Dr. Marina Antoniuk designs new contours to be easy to clean as well as even.
How is a smile makeover planned when one canine sticks out of line?
A canine out of line affects both the look of the smile and how the jaw is guided sideways. Dr. Marina Antoniuk at Creative Arts in Dubai checks the bite and jaw movements, designs the new line digitally and tries it as a mock-up, so the canine is brought into the smile in a way that still guides the bite correctly.
