Implant Supported Dentures Dubai: Snap-On Denture or Fixed All-on-4 Teeth?
"Implant-supported denture" is used for two different things: a removable denture that clips onto implants, and a fixed full-arch bridge screwed onto them. Here is how they differ, and which questions decide between them.
- 3D CBCT implant planning
- Full-arch frameworks made in our lab
- Written plan before treatment
If you wear a denture now, bring it to your assessment.
What is the difference between an implant-supported denture and fixed All-on-4 teeth?
An implant-supported (snap-on) denture is a removable denture that clips onto two or more implants; you take it out to clean it. Fixed full-arch teeth, such as All-on-4, are screwed onto implants and only the dentist removes them. The snap-on option usually needs fewer implants, while fixed teeth feel closest to natural teeth. At Creative Arts in Dubai, the full-arch implant option offered is fixed.

Snap-on denture vs fixed All-on-4 teeth: how do they compare?
General characteristics for a full upper or lower arch. Your bone, gums, health and bite decide which apply to you.
| Implant-supported (snap-on) denture | Fixed full-arch implant bridge (All-on-4 style) | |
|---|---|---|
| How it stays in | Clips onto attachments on the implants; the gum still carries part of the load | Screwed onto the implants; the gum carries no load |
| Who takes it out | You, for cleaning and at night | Only the dentist, for maintenance |
| Implants usually needed | Often two in the lower jaw; usually more in the upper | Typically four or more per arch, set by planning |
| Upper palate | May be partly uncovered if enough implants support it | Never covered |
| Feel when chewing | Far steadier than a loose denture, but can move slightly | Does not move; closest to natural teeth |
| Daily cleaning | Taken out and brushed; attachments cleaned in the mouth | Cleaned in place, including underneath, with a water flosser or interdental brushes |
| Parts that wear | Small retentive inserts lose grip and are replaced periodically | Screws and tooth surfaces are checked at reviews |
| Relative cost | Usually lower: fewer implants and a simpler prosthesis | Usually higher: more implants and a lab-made framework |
| At Creative Arts | Not listed as a treatment | Offered, with frameworks made in the lab in the same building |
"Implant-supported denture" is used for both options in adverts. Before comparing quotes, check whether the teeth come out or are screwed in, and how many implants are planned.
What is a snap-on denture on implants?
A snap-on denture, also called an implant-retained or implant-supported overdenture, looks like an ordinary complete denture: acrylic teeth on a gum-coloured base. The difference is underneath. Small housings with plastic or nylon inserts are built into the fitting surface, and they click onto matching attachments screwed into implants in the jaw. Some designs use individual stud-type attachments, others a bar joining the implants with clips in the denture.
The aim is to stop the denture lifting and sliding, which is the main complaint with a lower denture. A consensus statement from McGill University in 2002 proposed a lower overdenture retained by two implants as the first-choice standard of care for people with no lower teeth, and it remains a common reference point for that situation.
Because the denture still rests partly on the gum, the gum under it continues to change shape over the years. The fit is checked at reviews, and the inserts wear and are replaced from time to time to keep the click firm.
How many implants hold an implant-supported denture?
Typical starting points. The final number comes from a 3D CBCT scan of the bone, the shape of the jaw and the bite, not from a package name.
| Option | Usual number of implants | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Lower snap-on denture | Often two | Lower jaw bone is dense, and two implants at the front stop the denture lifting |
| Upper snap-on denture | Usually more than two, often four | Upper bone is softer, and more support is needed if the palate is to be left uncovered |
| Fixed full-arch bridge | Typically four or more per arch | The implants carry all the chewing load; back implants may be angled to avoid the sinus or nerve |
| Mini implants for a lower denture | Several narrow implants | Sometimes used where the bone is narrow; mainly indicated for lower overdentures |
Where bone is too thin, grafting may be discussed before implants are placed.

What are fixed All-on-4 teeth?
A fixed full-arch bridge is a complete row of teeth on a rigid framework, screwed onto implants in the jaw. The screw channels are filled over so they are not seen. It does not cover the palate, it does not move when you bite, and you cannot take it out; the dentist removes it when maintenance is needed. All-on-4 is the most widely known version, using four implants with the back two often angled.
At Creative Arts, implant surgery is planned on a 3D CBCT scan, and the framework and teeth, including pink gingival ceramic where gum has been lost, are made by Creative Art Dental Lab in the same building. Our page on full-mouth implants explains the stages, and our guide to All-on-4 problems covers what can go wrong and how it is fixed.
Which suits whom: a removable denture on implants or fixed teeth?
Starting points for the conversation at your assessment, not a self-diagnosis.
A removable snap-on denture may suit you if
- Your main problem is a loose lower denture
- You want fewer implants or less surgery
- Stiff hands or poor eyesight make cleaning under a fixed bridge hard
- There is enough room for a denture base and you are used to wearing one
- Your budget is the deciding factor
Fixed full-arch teeth may suit you better if
- You want teeth that never come out
- You dislike anything covering the palate
- You have strong gag reflexes or sore spots under dentures
- You want the closest feel to natural teeth when eating
- You can clean carefully under a bridge every day
Which lasts longer: an implant-supported denture or fixed teeth?
The implants themselves are not the weak point in either option when they are kept clean. A 2019 systematic review in the Journal of Dentistry estimated 10-year implant survival at about 96%, with lower figures in people over 65. What differs is the part on top.
- Snap-on denture: the inserts wear and are replaced periodically, the denture may need relining as the gum changes, and the acrylic teeth wear over the years until the denture is remade.
- Fixed bridge: no inserts to replace, but screws and tooth surfaces are checked at reviews, and a chipped tooth or loose screw is repaired by the dentist.
For both, the biggest long-term threat is inflammation of the gum and bone around the implants, called peri-implantitis, which is driven mainly by plaque. Our guide to cleaning implants and bridges at home shows how to clean under fixed teeth.
What Creative Arts does and does not offer
Removable dentures, including snap-on implant overdentures, are not among the treatments Creative Arts lists. The full-arch implant option offered here is fixed. If, after an examination, a removable overdenture would suit you better, the dentist will tell you so and explain where it could be provided.
Tired of a loose denture? An assessment with a 3D scan shows how much bone you have and gives you a written plan for fixed teeth on implants, with the alternatives explained.

Frequently asked questions
What is a snap-on denture on implants?
It is a removable complete denture with small housings in its fitting surface that click onto attachments on two or more implants. The implants stop it lifting and sliding, so it is much steadier than an ordinary denture, but you still take it out to clean it and the gum still carries part of the load.
Are implant supported dentures in Dubai removable or fixed?
Both are advertised under the same name. A snap-on overdenture is removable and clips onto implants; a fixed full-arch bridge such as All-on-4 is screwed onto implants and only the dentist removes it. When you compare clinics in Dubai, ask which one is being quoted and how many implants are included.
How many implants hold an implant-supported denture?
A lower snap-on denture often uses two implants, while an upper one usually needs more, often four, because the upper bone is softer. Fixed full-arch teeth typically need four or more implants per arch. The final number is set by a 3D CBCT scan of your bone and your bite.
Which lasts longer, an implant-supported denture or All-on-4?
The implants can last many years in both if they are kept clean. The difference is the part on top: a snap-on denture needs its inserts replaced periodically and may need relining or remaking as the gum changes, while a fixed bridge needs screw and tooth checks and occasional repairs. Cleaning habits matter more than the option chosen.
Can my old denture be converted into an implant-supported denture?
Sometimes. If an existing denture fits well and is in good condition, attachments can be added to it once the implants have healed. Often, though, a new denture is made at the same time. If you choose fixed teeth instead, whether your current denture can be adjusted and worn during healing depends on your plan.
Do implant-supported dentures cover the palate?
A lower denture never covers the palate. An upper snap-on denture may be made without full palate coverage if enough implants support it, which is one reason upper overdentures usually need more implants. A fixed full-arch bridge never covers the palate, which many people choose it for.
Does Creative Arts make implant-supported dentures?
Removable implant overdentures are not among the treatments Creative Arts lists. The full-arch implant option offered is fixed, with frameworks made by the lab in the same building. If a removable option would suit you better, the dentist will explain why and where it could be provided.
