Before: the situation
The upper central incisors are yellow, with fine vertical lines, and look darker than the neighbouring teeth. A small dark gap shows near the gum between the two centrals, and the upper canines are pointed. The lower front teeth are short, flat-edged and greyish, and dark spaces show at the corners of the smile.
What was wrong, and why it matters
When the upper front teeth are yellower than their neighbours and the lower teeth are short and grey, the smile reads as uneven and tired, even if each tooth is sound. Short, flat lower teeth are often a sign of wear, and a smile that shows the lower teeth when speaking highlights it.
Treating both arches changes how the upper and lower teeth meet. That is why the length of the upper edges, the shape of the lower teeth and the bite have to be planned together, not tooth by tooth.
The solution
In Dr. Marina's own description of this case, the teeth were restored with ceramic veneers. The after photo shows the upper and lower front teeth in one bright, even shade: the upper teeth fill the smile to the corners, the gap near the gum between the centrals is gone, and the lower teeth now show defined, even shapes.
Because both arches were involved, the plan had to account for the bite as well as the colour. Assessing the jaw joints, chewing muscles and how the teeth meet, then designing upper and lower teeth together with a mock-up, is how Dr. Marina keeps a result like this comfortable as well as bright.
How a case like this is planned and carried out
Examination, smile photographs and digital scans of both arches
Assessment of bite, TMJ and chewing muscles before changing tooth length
Digital smile design of upper and lower teeth together, with a mock-up
Staged treatment of the two arches
Veneers made with the ceramist in the dental lab in the same building
Bite review after fitting
After: the result
The upper and lower front teeth share one bright, even shade. The upper teeth now fill the smile to the corners, and the lower front teeth have defined, even shapes in place of the short, greyish edges.

Questions about this kind of case
Can veneers be placed on both upper and lower teeth in the same smile?
Yes, when the bite allows it and both arches are planned together. Changing upper and lower teeth alters how they meet, so the bite, jaw joints and chewing muscles are assessed first. At Creative Arts in Dubai, Dr. Marina Antoniuk designs both arches in one smile design and shows them as a mock-up; in this case the result was ceramic veneers on upper and lower teeth.
Is there a Russian-speaking dentist in Dubai who does ceramic veneers?
Dr. Marina Antoniuk is a Russian-speaking dentist in Dubai at Creative Arts Dental & Aesthetics, Jumeirah, with 17 years of clinical experience. She speaks English and Russian, and her work includes ceramic veneers and crowns, from small changes to restoring both arches. Each case starts with diagnosis and a bite assessment, and patients see the plan as a mock-up before treatment.
