Quick answer

Can a Dubai clinic put a crown on an implant placed in Turkey or abroad?

Usually yes. The implant is first examined and X-rayed to confirm it is healthy and firmly bonded to the bone, then its system is identified from your records or, if needed, from the X-ray and the connection, so compatible parts can be ordered. At Creative Arts in Dubai, the crown is then made by Creative Art Dental Lab in the same building. If parts cannot be sourced, the written plan explains the alternatives first.

What happens when you bring an implant from abroad

Finishing an implant placed elsewhere is routine restorative work, done in the right order.

01

The implant is checked before the crown

A crown on an implant that has not bonded, or that has gum or bone inflammation around it, will not last. The implant is examined and X-rayed first.

02

The system is identified, not guessed

Each implant system has its own connection. Parts are ordered for your specific system so the crown seats precisely and the screw holds.

03

The crown is made next door

Creative Art Dental Lab is in the same building, so the ceramist can check shade and shape with you and your dentist, and adjust in-house.

04

A clear answer if parts are not available

Rare or discontinued systems can be hard to source. If so, you are told before any work begins, with the alternatives in writing.

Your situation

What does your implant from abroad need?

Find the row closest to your case. The examination confirms which applies.

Implant problems of any origin are covered on our implant repair page.

What records should you bring from the first clinic?

The implant card or passport (manufacturer, system, diameter, length, lot number), the tooth position, any X-rays or CBCT scans, the date of surgery, notes on any bone graft or sinus lift, and any spare parts or temporary components you were given. If you have nothing, come anyway: identification is often still possible.

Step by step

How the crown is made for an implant placed abroad

Timings depend on the implant's condition and on when parts arrive.

  1. History and records

When and where the implant was placed, any graft, how it has felt, and the records you bring.

  2. Examination and imaging

Gum health, stability and bite, with an X-ray to see the bone along the implant. A 3D CBCT scan is used where the position or bone needs checking.

  3. Identify the system and plan

The system is confirmed and parts sourced. You receive a written, itemised plan with alternatives before committing.

From dentist to dental lab

Your implant crown is made in the same building

The laboratory that makes your implant crown is in the same building as the clinic. The ceramist can see your neighbouring teeth under the same light as your dentist, which matters most for a front tooth.

  1. 1Implant check — examination and X-rays, CBCT where needed
  2. 2System confirmed — compatible parts identified and ordered
  3. 3Digital record — a scan body records the implant position
  4. 4Design — abutment and crown designed for your bite and gum line
  5. 5Fabrication — milled and finished in ceramic, shade matched
  6. 6Fit & review — screw tightened, bite balanced, reviewed afterwards

Is it straightforward?

When can the crown go ahead, and when is something needed first?

Most implants placed abroad can be completed; some need a step first.

Usually ready for a crown if

  • The implant has had its full healing time and is firm
  • The gum around it is healthy, with no bleeding or pus
  • The X-ray shows bone at the expected level
  • The system is known or can be identified
  • There is room for a crown in your bite

Something comes first if

  • Healing time is not yet complete
  • There is bleeding, swelling or bone loss around the implant
  • The implant moves or is painful
  • Parts for the system cannot be sourced
  • The position makes a cleanable crown difficult
Cost

How is the crown priced when the implant already exists?

You pay for the restoration and any work it needs, not for an implant you already have. These are the items that make the quote differ between cases.

  • Assessment and imagingThe examination and X-rays, and a CBCT scan if the position or bone needs checking.
  • Components for your systemThe abutment, screw and impression parts for your specific implant; rare systems can cost more to source.
  • The crownMaterial and design, for example zirconia or lithium disilicate (E.max), screw-retained or cemented.
  • UncoveringA small procedure if the implant is buried under the gum.
  • Treatment firstCleaning or treatment of inflammation, or a new screw or crown if the existing one has failed.
Problems

What if the implant done abroad is loose or painful?

First find out what is moving. A loose crown or screw is a mechanical problem, usually fixed by retightening or replacing the screw or remaking the crown. An implant that itself moves has lost its bond with the bone and needs removing; after healing, and sometimes a bone graft, a new one can often be placed. Pain, swelling, bleeding or pus suggest inflammation around the implant, which is treated before any crown work. Our guides to dental implant risks and the implant record to ask for help you understand what you were given. The implants in Dubai vs Turkey guide compares the practical side. Before you travel for the next stage, ask the first clinic what their aftercare terms cover if another clinic completes the work.

Patient questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I get my implant done in Turkey and the crown in Dubai?

Yes, this is common. Plan it before you travel: ask the first clinic for the implant card with the system, size and lot number, the X-rays and the healing time they advise. In Dubai, the implant is examined and X-rayed, the system confirmed and compatible parts ordered, then the crown is made. Timing depends on healing and on parts arriving.

What if I don't know which implant brand I have?

Ask the first clinic for your records first, as that is quickest. If they are not available, the system can often be identified from the X-ray appearance of the implant and from its connection once the healing cap or crown is removed. If identification or parts are not possible, the written plan explains the alternatives before any work starts.

How long does a crown on an implant from abroad take in Dubai?

If the implant is healed and healthy and the system is known, it usually takes an assessment visit, a scan or impression visit and a fitting visit. The lab typically needs 3–5 working days depending on complexity. Waiting for parts for a less common system, uncovering a buried implant or treating inflammation adds time.

Is an implant from Turkey compatible with Dubai clinics?

Implants are not tied to a country; they are tied to a system. Widely distributed systems are easy to restore in Dubai. Less common or discontinued systems can need parts ordered from abroad or a different restorative approach. Knowing the exact system before you leave the first clinic saves the most time.

My implant from abroad has a loose crown. Can you fix it?

Usually. A loose implant crown is most often caused by a loosened screw or failed cement, which can be retightened, replaced or recemented once the system is identified. An X-ray checks that the implant itself is still firmly bonded. If the implant moves, it needs removing and the options are discussed in a written plan.

Will you place the crown if the implant looks unhealthy?

Not until the problem is treated. Fitting a crown on an implant with bleeding, pus or bone loss around it, or one that has not bonded, risks losing both. The gum and bone are treated first, and the crown follows once the implant is stable. If the implant cannot be saved, removal and replacement options are explained.
