Trying the design first
A mock-up worn for a while shows whether the length and shape suit your face and speech. It needs time before preparation.
A Hollywood Smile changes ten to twenty teeth at once. Where it is done matters less than how: how much tooth is removed, how long the process is allowed to take, and who looks after it for the next decade.
The first visit is an examination, photographs and a written plan with alternatives. Nothing is prepared until you approve a mock-up.
It depends less on the country than on the treatment format. Hollywood Smile packages abroad are often compressed into one trip of about a week, which leaves little time for a mock-up, temporaries or bite checks, and aftercare happens far from the clinic that did the work. In Dubai, at Creative Arts, treatment is staged with a mock-up first and reviews close to home. Compare the plan, the preparation and the follow-up, not just the quote.
Our separate guide to veneers in Dubai vs Turkey covers the general question of treatment abroad. A Hollywood Smile raises the stakes for three reasons.
Scale. Ten to twenty units are placed at once, often on both arches. A small error in edge length or shade is repeated across every tooth that shows when you smile.
Bite. When all the front teeth and sometimes the premolars change shape, the way your jaws meet changes too. Bite problems often appear only after weeks of normal chewing, not on the day of fitting.
Irreversibility. Many teeth are prepared in one sitting. If the design is wrong, the fix is a remake, not a polish. Clinics in Turkey range widely, and some do excellent work. The useful comparison is between treatment formats, and you can apply it to any clinic in any country.
General patterns, not a verdict on any individual clinic. Ask every clinic to answer each row in writing.
| Typical one-trip package abroad | Staged treatment in Dubai at Creative Arts | |
|---|---|---|
| Trip or treatment length | Often built around a single stay of about a week | Several visits over weeks, fitted around your schedule |
| Design before preparation | Often a digital image; a mock-up in the mouth may be skipped | Digital smile design and a physical mock-up you approve first |
| Restoration type | Full crowns are common, sometimes on healthy teeth | Veneers where teeth are sound, crowns only where a tooth needs them |
| Tooth preparation | Can be heavy, so that work fits a fixed timeline | As little as the design allows; sometimes minimal or none |
| Living with temporaries | Days at most | Long enough to test shape, speech and bite |
| Bite check after fitting | Usually before you fly home | Review appointments after you have lived with the new teeth |
| Chip, debond or sensitivity later | Return trip or a local dentist without the records | Clinic and lab in the same building in Jumeirah |
| Travel and time off | Flights, hotel and leave to add to the quote | No travel if you live in the UAE |
No prices are given here. Ask every clinic for an itemised plan that lists each tooth, its restoration and its material.
The phrase "Turkey teeth" is used online for smiles where healthy teeth were cut down into small pegs and covered with full crowns, often in a very bright, opaque white. The issue is not the country. It is the choice of full crowns on sound teeth, combined with a timeline that leaves no room to test the design.
A crown needs reduction all the way around the tooth. On a healthy front tooth, that removes far more enamel than a veneer, and it cannot be undone. Heavily reduced teeth are also more likely to become sensitive and, in some cases, to need root canal treatment later.
Many Gulf patients use "Hollywood Smile" to mean a full set of crowns, so it is worth asking any clinic which you are being offered. Our guide on whether a Hollywood Smile should be crowns or veneers explains when each is right, and Hollywood Smile without filing explains when minimal or no preparation is realistic.
A fixed trip forces each step into a fixed slot. These are the steps that usually get squeezed.
A mock-up worn for a while shows whether the length and shape suit your face and speech. It needs time before preparation.
If the gums bleed or need contouring, they should settle before final impressions. A short trip rarely allows that.
Temporaries test the bite and pronunciation. Days are often not enough to notice a problem.
Bite high spots and sensitivity often show up in the first weeks. The clinic that knows your case should be reachable then.
A Hollywood Smile is not finished on the day it is fitted. It needs a bite check, regular hygiene visits, a night guard if you grind, and occasionally a repair. Ceramic restorations typically last many years with good care, but over that time a veneer can chip, debond or show a margin as gums change.
When the work was done abroad, each of those events becomes a decision: fly back, or ask a local dentist to help without the original design, materials list or X-rays. A local dentist can often help, but repairing or matching another lab's ceramic is harder than adjusting your own.
Before you commit anywhere, ask three questions: how are remakes handled if a unit fails in the first year, who pays for travel if you need to return, and what records will you receive. Our guides to Hollywood Smile aftercare and how long a Hollywood Smile lasts cover what maintenance looks like.
If you have sensitivity, a high bite, bleeding gums around the margins or a shade you dislike, an examination can show what is adjustable and what would need replacing. Bring any X-rays, photos and the list of materials you were given. Read more about redoing veneers that look unnatural.
Two quotes for "a Hollywood Smile" can describe very different treatments. Put them side by side only after each one answers these points in writing:
Published prices vary widely in both countries. Our page on Hollywood Smile cost explains what drives the cost in Dubai, and Hollywood Smile pros, cons and risks covers what to weigh before any full-smile treatment.
Coming to Dubai from abroad raises the same timing questions. Visitors' treatment is planned so the design is approved before preparation, and where one stay is too short, treatment can be split into two trips. The veneers for visitors page and our dental tourism concierge explain how scheduling works.
Want to see whether your teeth suit veneers, crowns or a mix before deciding where to have treatment? A consultation gives you a written, itemised plan you can compare with any quote.

Costs such as rent, wages and lab fees differ between countries, and a one-trip package spreads fixed costs over a short, high-volume schedule. Quotes also differ in what they include: number of units, crowns or veneers, material and follow-up. Add flights, hotel, time off and possible return trips before comparing.
Crowns are not bad in themselves; they are the right choice for heavily filled, cracked or root-treated teeth. The concern is full crowns on healthy teeth, which removes much more enamel than veneers and cannot be reversed. Ask any clinic why each tooth needs a crown.
Packages abroad are often built around a stay of about a week. In Dubai at Creative Arts it usually takes several visits over a few weeks: consultation, design and mock-up, preparation, then try-in and fitting after lab work that typically takes 3–5 working days. Preparatory treatment adds time.
Often, yes. Small chips, high spots on the bite and some sensitivity can be adjusted. Shade problems, open margins or teeth that are too long or bulky usually mean replacing the units. An examination with X-rays shows the condition of the teeth underneath first.
Ask for X-rays before and after treatment, the list of teeth treated with the material and type of each restoration, the shade used, the cement or bonding type and, ideally, the digital scan or design file. These make later repairs much easier for any dentist.
It can be enough to prepare and fit the restorations, but it leaves little time to try a mock-up, live with temporaries or check the bite after fitting. Splitting treatment into two trips, with design approval on the first, is usually safer.
If you clench or grind, yes, wherever the work was done. Grinding is one of the most common reasons ceramic restorations chip. A custom night guard made after fitting protects the new teeth while you sleep.
