How do I choose a cosmetic dentist in Dubai?
There is no official ranking, so judge cosmetic dentists in Dubai on what you can verify: a current licence in the name of the dentist who will treat you, real case photographs from that clinic, an examination before any design, a mock-up before any tooth is prepared, a known laboratory, and a written itemised plan that includes conservative alternatives. This guide explains each check, and shows how Creative Arts answers them.
Why is there no single "best" cosmetic dentist in Dubai?
Search results and social media are full of "best cosmetic dentist" lists, but none of them is an official ranking. Some are paid placements, some count followers, and none can see the inside of your mouth. The dentist who is right for a patient who wants whiter teeth is not necessarily the one for a patient with worn, heavily filled teeth and a collapsed bite.
It also helps to know that cosmetic dentistry is not a separate licence category. In Dubai, as in most countries, "cosmetic dentist" describes the kind of work a dentist does, not a specialist title. The nearest recognised specialty is prosthodontics. Many dentists who do excellent veneer and smile work are licensed as general dentists or dentists, and that is normal, as long as nobody calls them a specialist.
So start with your own goal. Write down what bothers you: colour, chips, gaps, crowding, short or worn teeth, a gummy smile, missing teeth. Then judge each clinic on whether it examines before it designs, offers the least invasive option that reaches that goal, and shows you the result before anything irreversible happens.
Eight criteria for choosing a cosmetic dentist in Dubai
Use this as a checklist at every consultation. Each point can be checked by you, without trusting a ranking.
| Criterion | What a good answer looks like | How to check it |
|---|---|---|
| 1. A named, licensed dentist | You know who examines you, prepares the teeth and fits the work | Search the name in the Dubai Health Authority's online directory |
| 2. Real case photographs | Unretouched cases from that clinic, with consent, showing a variety of results | Ask which dentist treated each case and what was done |
| 3. Examination before design | Gums, decay, old fillings and bite are checked before any smile is designed | Ask what would stop you being a candidate |
| 4. A mock-up before preparation | You see the planned shape in your own mouth before enamel is removed | Ask at which visit the mock-up happens |
| 5. A known laboratory | The clinic can tell you where your veneers or crowns are made and who makes them | Ask whether the ceramist will see your teeth in person |
| 6. A written, itemised plan | Each tooth, the material, the number of visits and the cost, before you commit | Ask for it in writing; compare plans line by line |
| 7. Conservative alternatives | Whitening, bonding or orthodontics offered where they reach the goal with less preparation | Ask what you could do without veneers |
| 8. Aftercare | A review appointment, written care instructions and a plan for grinding | Ask what happens if something chips or feels wrong |

How do you check a cosmetic dentist's licence and title?
Every dentist practising in Dubai must hold a licence. For most private clinics it is issued by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), whose online medical directory lets you search a professional by name and see their licence category and the facility they are registered with. Clinics in Dubai Healthcare City are licensed by that free zone's own regulator.
Three points matter for cosmetic work:
- The name matches. The dentist you meet should be the dentist on the plan, and the one who prepares and fits your teeth.
- The title matches the licence. "Specialist" and "consultant" are licence categories in Dubai, not marketing words. Be wary of a cosmetic dentist described as a specialist when the directory says otherwise.
- The work matches the dentist. Ask how often they plan veneer and smile cases. A dentist who does this work regularly will talk comfortably about preparation depth, bite and shade.
Questions like these are answered case by case at a veneer consultation. Read about veneer planning with Dr. Kinan Bonni, one of the dentists who sees cosmetic patients here.
How should you judge a cosmetic dentist's before-and-after photos?
Case photos are the most persuasive part of any cosmetic dentist's website, and the easiest to misread. Look for these signs that a portfolio is honest and that the work is good:
- Same angle, same light in the before and after. A brighter flash makes any smile look whiter.
- Gums in the picture. Healthy, pink gum along the edge of each veneer is a sign of good margins; red or puffy gum is not.
- Variation between cases. If every result is the same shape and the same very white shade, the clinic may be applying one template to every face.
- Close-ups and side views, where bulky or opaque veneers show.
- A named dentist and a description of what was done, such as "six E-max veneers" rather than just "Hollywood Smile".
Our own veneer case library shows unretouched photographs of patients treated here, published with consent. Judge it by the same rules.
Red flags when choosing a cosmetic dentist
Any one of these is a reason to ask more questions or get a second opinion.
A per-tooth price before an examination
A figure given by phone or message cannot account for gum health, old fillings, bite or how many teeth actually show when you smile.
Teeth prepared at the first visit
Without an approved design and mock-up, you are agreeing to irreversible work you have not seen.
The same number of veneers for everyone
Packages of a fixed number of teeth ignore your smile width. Many people show fewer teeth than a package assumes.
No answer about the laboratory
If the clinic cannot say where the ceramic is made or who makes it, nobody may be taking responsibility for shade and fit.
Pressure to decide today
A discount that expires at the end of the consultation is a sales tactic, not a clinical reason.

Explore cosmetic dentistryHow Creative Arts measures up against these criteria
We would rather you check us than take our word for it. This is how each criterion works at our clinic in Jumeirah 3.
| Criterion | At Creative Arts |
|---|---|
| Named dentists | Cosmetic cases are planned and fitted by Dr. Khalid Saeed (co-founder and dentist), Dr. Kinan Bonni (dentist) and Dr. Somar Dahdal (general dentist). None is described as a specialist. |
| Case photographs | Unretouched cases from our own patients, published with consent, with the treatment described. |
| Examination first | Gums, decay, old fillings and bite are checked first; problems are treated before cosmetic work. |
| Design and mock-up | Digital smile design, then a physical mock-up in your mouth before any irreversible preparation. |
| Laboratory | Creative Art Dental Lab, in the same building; the ceramist can see your teeth under the same light as your dentist. |
| Written plan | An itemised written plan with cost and alternatives, before you commit. |
| Alternatives | Whitening, composite bonding and Invisalign are offered where they can reach the goal with less preparation. |
| Aftercare | Review appointment, written aftercare and a night guard where grinding is a risk. |
What we do not do: publish prices online, make veneers or crowns on the same day, or promise a result before examining you. You can look up any of our dentists on the doctors page and in the DHA directory.
Questions to ask at your first cosmetic consultation
Take these to every clinic you are comparing. The answers matter more than the price, because they decide how much tooth you lose and how the result ages.
- Which dentist will prepare and fit my teeth?
- Am I a candidate, and what would make me not one?
- Could whitening, bonding or orthodontics achieve part of this with less preparation?
- How many teeth do I need treated, and why that number?
- Which material for each tooth, and why?
- How much enamel will be removed, and where?
- Will I see a mock-up in my mouth before preparation?
- Where is the ceramic made, and will the ceramist see my teeth?
- How many visits, and how long between them?
- What should I do if a veneer chips or comes off?
Our smile design consultation is built around these questions, and the veneer consultation guide explains what each answer should include.
Comparing quotes from different cosmetic dentists
Two quotes for "a Hollywood Smile" can describe different numbers of teeth, different materials and different preparatory work. Compare the itemised plans line by line, and read what drives cosmetic dentistry cost before you compare totals. If two dentists disagree on what you need, a second opinion is reasonable.
